Title: Piano? Anyone?
Huy - April 27, 2006 08:41 PM (GMT)
Hello, i was wondering if any people was playing the piano? I would likely to start going to piano class, but first i would like to hear if its hard to play it? or if its very bored in the end. I want to learn play it because i heard the song "CAnon D" from the movie "my sassy girl". So got any opinions?

Huy, that's great. :)
Learning to play the piano is not hard at all. I took lessons before and I stopped at
grade 3. I'm not an expert but I can moderately play any piece with enough practice.
I'm currently taking guitar lessons and I"ll tell you, I don't remember having this much
difficulty when I was learning the piano. It's either I can't strecth my fingers enough to
do chords or I'm inadvertently pressing the other strings or something. And it takes me
forever to switch chords. I'd like to practice more than I currently am but an hour of
practicing and my fingertips are numb and I can't feel the strings anymore. >_<

I used to take piano lessons years ago.. I still know how to read notes and stuff, and if I really want to sit down and learn how to play something, I will. I can play the intro and verse of "My Immortal" by Evanescence pretty well :P
@Tiron: Don't worry, I remember what first learning guitar was like. Eventually, your fingers will get used to the numbness, and you'll be able to get used to the pain. Haha, and if you play long enough (as in years) you virtually won't have fingerprints on your hand that press the strings with... and your fingers will get callus on them and stuff. It's just the beauty of being a guitar player XD But it all pays off in the end if you're dedicated.

I play piano and really like it. All I can tell you is to stay dedicated. You might get frustrated or tired or achy(especially in your back and fingers) but keep at it.
Good luck!

Hey~! I play the piano and I take piano lessons too... It's really fun! But sometimes it gets kind of frustrating when you're trying to play a hard part... VERY frustrating...And also, it depends on your piano teacher too. My piano teacher is very nice, but still gets strict when I just can't get the right note...
But once you can play a couple songs, it's really great!
Except sometimes I get very lazy about going to piano every week..hahaha
Good luck!

Piano is great!
Whatever you do, do not feel disheartened.
I did, and I almost ended up leaving my piano teacher (who is nicer than most teachers that I know).
Keep going~
If you decide it's not for you, try another instrument.
Violin plays a beautiful Canon in D, too.

I'm playing on piano 11 years and it's totally fun and not boring at all!!! And yes, it's pretty hard to learn but it depends... because i learned really complicted stuff but when i left my piano school [ i learned at school 6 years ] i started to play by myself and noe i'm playing different songs... but anyway, if you want to start so it's great! you know, playing on guitar it's really fun too...but still i think if you like it you should start, you will enjoy!!! good luck.. =]

I play the piano too (and I've taken lessons for...8 years if I remember well) and I really like it ! But, that's true, sometimes it can be frustrating when you have to play a hard part, or when you have to do your exams :P
However, it's great because you can play all sorts of music (classical or modern music), and...I don't know, it's rather soothing^^
It's really interesting, and if you decide to start it (and you should^^), good luck !

My friends know how to play the piano, but the only thing I know how to play is chopsticks, haha.
