Well, actually, my 'version' of the Kanji wouldn't be as complete as yours anyway, considering it's a scan.



That's a revised version of my original transcription, which was scrawled on a scrap piece of paper. So this is the 'clean' version, if you will. :P There were some minor changes and corrections, but nothingreally major.

Some notes: this was written a few days ago and I didn't write out another, so there are some things left out from the transcription I posted.

The 'komu' in 'nagarekomu' in the second main stanza isn't there.

'Wakasu' is an incorrect transcription, as I doubt YUI wants to boil the person she's singing to anytime soon. :P

But, I think by and large your transcription, zuttodayo, is spot on. I can venture a translation now! ^)^

Translation:

eh, am in Japan at the moment so I got my native friend who is fluent in english to help me translate so it should hopefuly be a fairly accurate translation, but she changed some words so the song actually makes sense in english. oh and the spoken words she shout's in the middle and at the end are included too. the song makes more sence if you watch the music video to go with it, you can get it on Youtube.com by searching for YUI and there are some of her other video's there too. :D

it's funny...i speak absolutely NO japanese (though i will be learning), and yet, was i the only one to say "oh wow...this is a love song"? i wasn't 100% certain, but for some reason, i got that impression, even before seeing the movie (which i'm rewatching now, actually)...

now that i've read the translation, i'm having trouble deciding which song i like better...good-bye days or tokyo...hrm...thanks for the translations tho (even though i waited forever to read them)

It certainly captures the essence of what the song is trying to envoke and I agree with what you said it's more of poem structure definately could be used to convert the song to english (I hate to say "Dubbed verison") When you move lyrics from one language to another through translation "direct meaning" in another lang. will not always match with the rythem and melody of the song, You were able to capture a large portion of the message of the songs.
