Ok ... who else is looking forward to this game? It's only a month and a half away. It's gonna be an exciting end to the series.

I guess I shouldn't expect too many replies since it's suppose to be a "Mature" rating game and minors (which some of the members are) shouldn't be playing it.

I don't have a PS3 yet, but I'm expecting to get the PS3 bundle that will come with MGS4, hopefully the Limited Edition one.

Has anyone played the Metal Gear Online beta? I played it at my friend's place and it's pretty good. Can't wait for the full game to come out.

Well ofcourse there are other games that I'm waiting for too, but...Metal Gear Solid is just MY game.My favourite. Even though I only played MGS 1. I haven't played MGS 2&3, cause I kinda skipped one generation gameconsole. so I didn't had the PS2.

They said that newcomers to the MGS series will still be able to understand the story, since it will have some flashbacks to clear things up.

Is your PS3 one of the models that still have backward compatibility? If you do, I strongly recommend you to go play MGS2, and MGS3 if possible, to prepare yourself for MGS4 (in terms of both gameplay and story). Or try borrow a PS2 from a friend. I doubt anyone will be hogging their PS2 by now.

MGS4 follows the story of MGS2. You will be able to understand it, but I expect the story of MGS4 will encompass some minuet details from MGS2 as well. Finishing at least MGS2 will surely give you a better understanding of how the answers in MGS4 will fit in the overall saga.

Yes, my PS3 does have the Backwards Compatibility. I do was planning on playing MGS 2&3, but later on, after I've played Guns Of The Patriots...
Since I don't know if I'm going to "make it". MGS4 is going to be released in 1.5 months, and I don't know if I would have the time to play MGS 2 in this period and finish it before the release.
Ofcourse you might say, I don't have to play MGS4 from the release.

And I just bought GTA IV........too many games to play, a luxury problem...
On the other hand, I do got a lot of free time lately...
So maybe I'll just play MGS2...maybe...
MGS3 is kinda like a prequel huh? I'll save that for later maybe...

You should play MGS2. Yeah, you can save MGS3 for later if you don't have the time now.

Metal Gear Online beta was free for those that pre-ordered MGS4 early enough. My friend pre-ordered and got the code to try the beta. Now the beta testing is over. Have to wait for the game next month.

On Friday, they finally officially announced the MGS4 PS3 Limited Edition bundle. It comes in the very limited GunMetal Gray colour and the limited edition of the game, but the PS3 only comes with 40GB which completely sucks. What's worse is this limited edition is USD$599. You can buy the regular MGS4 PS3 bundle for $499 (which already comes with the regular MGS4) and also get the MGS4 Limited Edition ($85) and the total, with a bigger hdd, is still less than the Limited Edition Bundle.

I was so looking forward to this limited edition bundle and get the GunMetal Gray system, but not anymore. I'm going to get the regular MGS4 PS3 bundle and the limited edition of the game, and see off the regular edition of the game.

It's only 40GB, and it comes with only 1 controller. But the 1 controller is also in the same gunmetal gray colour as the console. At first I wanted to get it, but the 40GB and $100 more than the regular one is a complete turn off. So I'm just getting the regular bundle.

nah im getting it locally here. Like we chatted last time, we're not even sure that we're getting the MGS bundle. So I'll be getting the regular PS3 bundle (that includes 1 free game) and the MGS4 Limited Edition.

I'll think about it. Not too crazy about FPS on consoles. I used to play more of them on computers. Though the PS3 is suppose to support keyboard/mouse.

I'll give a better review in a couple of days since I've sat in front of the TV for 2 hrs, but I've only played 1 hr of the game because of cut scenes and codec dialogues. I'll give a better review in the next few days.

first thoughts:

Having played all 3 MGS games, its quite hard to get used to the camera work and the battle system. Though it is REALLY COOL to be able to switch from first person shooter to 3rd person view. Almost feel as if you're playing CS: Source.

Needless to say, graphics is visual orgasm. aaaaahhhhhhhhh XD

thus far, it has been good. i've adjusted well to the battle system though im still coming to terms with the free camera work.

Okay, On June 12 I also got MGS4 GOTP!!
But unfortunetaly I haven't had the time to REALLY play it.
I only played it for 5 mins on the day I bought it.
BUT I hope/I think I'm gonna play it this week!!

I've only played MGS1. So the gameplay and movement and shooting is bit different to me. But I'll get used to it I think.

I've didn't have as much time as I would have like play the game yet. I did finish ACT 1. However, because I tried many things through the gameplay and made so many mistakes and unnecessary kills, I'm thinking of replaying it from the beginning again in "strictly stealth" mode.

Much like MGS2 and 3, if you play through the game without killing anyone, you'll receive a bandana for infinite ammo at the end of the game that you can use in your next play through.

i was also thinking the same thing as well, but i'm playing it as how I would perceive Solid Snake would be going through his mission. I plan to play it 'stealth-only' once I've completed the game.

Oh yeah, the other thing I was gonna do when playing from the beginning again is I might do no-kill through the game. That is, only use tranquilizers through the whole game.
