kara can also mean 'from' you know? for example a direct translation for yui's first album FROM ME TO YOU would be 'watashi kara, anata ni'

dakara sort of means 'it is because' while kara(not as from) just means 'because' i guess.

e.g Dakara, shinpai iranai desu yo! >> That's why i told you, you don't have to worry!
Daijobu kara, shinpai iranai desu >> Because it is alright, you don't have to worry.

I may not be good at explaining but...

I used to wonder about it too when I first started out. The main difference between the two depends on the word type which appears before it. To be more specfic, "kara" is a word which is attached to the one prior to it.

So why is there a "da"? The word preceeding "kara" must be in plain form. Therefore when the words preceeding "kara" are na adjectives or nouns, "da", which is a plain form of "desu" comes in, forming the plain form of the na adjective or noun.

e.g. na adjective: kirai dakara~, nigate dakara~
noun: kimi dakara~, senpai dakara~
i adjective: isogashii kara~, urusai kara~

Of course, "kara" has another meaning of "from". In this case though, the word preceeding it would normally be a noun and in its "raw" form.

e.g. 7 ji kara 8 ji made (from 7o'clock to 8o'clock)

Pardon any inaccuracies~

it shud be "daijoubu dakara"

Here's the rule. Use kara after verbs and adjectives like samui (cold). E.g. Isogashii kara (Because I'm busy); Ikitai kara (Because I want to go). Use dakara after nouns and "na" adjectives like sukina. E.g. Kodomo dakara (Because he's a child); Suki dakara (Because I like it).

hmmm, dakara can be used alone too.

like as explained,
ima toukyou samuidesu. dakara, ikemasen.
Tokyo is cold right now. THEREFORE (i) can't go.

dakara can means therefore.

you can get the meaning of the words from the context itself.
