Title: What is different between Jap. and HK Version?
Description: I loved yesterday album

asapin - April 18, 2008 06:23 AM (GMT)
I'm thinking about buying "I Loved Yesterday Limited Edition" from yesasia. I see that there is no Japan version available but there is a Hong Kong Version.

http://global.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/...pid-1010903401/

Therefore, I wonder about the differences between these two versions. :rolleye

One thing I worry is that the picture quality of the DVD may not be good since I once bought DVD Movie which is HK Version and the quality is terrible: the bright blue sky in Japanese Version(I bought this version later) becomes the dull blue sky in HK Version. :what

Fandan - April 18, 2008 06:59 AM (GMT)
If you buy from yesasia it does not count towards Oricon numbers, so basically it doesn't add to YUI's sales totals. Of course YUI doesn't care outwardly, but her future depends on sales numbers.

As long as it's an official copy from Sony, you will be ok. DVD quality should be the same, the only difference is the packaging will have Chinese writing instead of Japanese and the DVD region will be different (3 instead of 2).

I think the other DVD you bought must have been pirated. If you buy HK movies that are unofficial and pirated, then the quality is bad.

asapin - April 18, 2008 09:28 AM (GMT)
Yes,I would think it's pirated but I bought it from HMV so I don't think it is. @@

So where do you guys buy her album if not from yesasia?

milkyway - April 18, 2008 10:44 AM (GMT)
lol...i tink only diff is the chinese writing japanese
most CD's koprean and japanese will release HK version! don worry it legitimate.
btw WTF!! doesn count to her oricon WHY!! i jus bout the HK version last week..arriving tomolo yays!!

milkyway - April 18, 2008 10:45 AM (GMT)
oh en why are the prices so different?

Fandan - April 18, 2008 11:09 AM (GMT)
Don't forget the DVD region difference. The Japanese version DVD won't play on HK region players, unless you have one that plays any region.

I think they price it different for different markets. Like in the US, most album CDs are $12-17. Japanese versions meant for Japanese consumers cost more.

milkyway - April 18, 2008 11:43 AM (GMT)
well...yesasia is global, so it's all the same.. on the exact same site the japanese cost much more than the HK version

milkyway - April 18, 2008 11:46 AM (GMT)
btw...i ordered that exact one from your link.
what does it mean by first press limited edition?

NorthernLight[Zzz] - April 18, 2008 01:40 PM (GMT)
First press limited Edition = 1st batch that's printed (i think) and it's limited.

br4d137 - April 18, 2008 04:12 PM (GMT)
if u buy the hk ver from yesasia

its gonna be exactly the same quality wise... just the fact that u didnt buy the japanese version that supported YUI..

but if ur low on cash go for the other country versions..

they are gonna be the same...

enzeekay - April 18, 2008 08:22 PM (GMT)
I remember buying the Japan Edition of My Generation.

No difference I guess so.

dUStyEX99 - April 19, 2008 03:28 AM (GMT)
it was told that album has japan and hongkong versions but singles only japan version... i got a hongkong version of CBML... it carte for the local market and to save the shipping cost for the company... but for us to we want help her oricon charts and get "original" version so we japanese versions...

the_chap - April 19, 2008 06:33 AM (GMT)
The difference between the Japan version and the HK version is that the HK version is only limited to the Limited Edition version.

This means that all of the albums you get from yesasia will come with the "Limited Edition" DVD.

The only reason why anyone would wanna get the Japanese version is for collection. If you're like some of the diehard fans here, who collect every single piece of album, single, magazine and accessory that YUI has ever been a part of ( :hee I'm looking at you Brad ), you will get both Japanese versions (LE and Normal E).

LOL, not only brad..me 2! i got like 3 Can't BUy My Love last time. and this time i didn't open my I loved yesterday japanese version but i wanted to watch the dvd so i almost wanted to buy another one and open that one to watch it. i told my friend and she thinks i'm crazy so she lend me hers. LOL.

and one thing that's annoying is.

Japanese's Limited Edition is Hong Kong's NORMAL edition. (which means in HK, YUI's limited edition doesn't really mean anything since the HK version has SO MANY copies of the Limited Edition)However, HK doesn't import the normal versions..

And i really wanted to get the normal edition. and i couldn't find it AT ALL in the Hong Kong cd shops. only all the limited edition HK versions. AHH IT'S SO HARD TO FIND THE NORMAL EDITION IN HK!! :angry :angry :angry

Well actually, answering to the question. there really isn't much difference. the only difference is that at the back of the HK version, it says "MADE IN HONG KONG" which is annoying and i don't like that. LOL. buying japanese versions are always the best because it's YUI's original cd after all. (to me)

btw, question: since yesasia doesn't count. how about HMV in HK? does it count?

asapin - April 19, 2008 02:17 PM (GMT)
Thank you for your answers, guys! :good

Actually,I would like to buy Japanese Version but I only find HK Version in yesasia. The reason I order from yesasia is that it doesn't charge the delivery cost. Therefore, I hope you guys don't mind. :sry

milkyway - April 19, 2008 02:28 PM (GMT)
lol! @ asapin!! trust me the japanese version is there! i get mine from yesasia too! search harder...il post the link later when im not busy lol!

yvonneleung - April 19, 2008 02:51 PM (GMT)
if it's the japanese version Limited edition, it's out of print already. but if it's the normal edition, it's in stock.

If you really want to buy the japanese version, then I suggest you go to HMV or cdjapan.
DON'T LISTEN to that "free shipping" thing with yesasia. They're just trying to rip you off because they usually already added the shipping prices to the items. -__-''
I really suggest you don't buy from there unless you're desperate cause they have bad service and you items would likely be cracked or something...

Lol, so like just check with other sites and add their shipping to compare and see which is cheapest. That's what I always do everytime I order online. :clap

Oh yeah, theres a special promo @cdjapan right now too... its like 500yen off an order of 3000+

hopefully you didn't order it yet... @@

gotchi - April 20, 2008 09:50 AM (GMT)
yea and besides the "made in HK" and chinese text on the HK versions..i find that the print quality (ink colors ) are a bit different from the Japanese ones...the JPN one has stronger and more accurate colors frrom my point of view....but not always the case..

yea i noticed yesterday that all of the Limited Edition (JPN vers) of ILD isn't even listed anymore..i preordered mine way back in early March and it's still on its way..should arrive this week

yea sometimes the price isn't exactly the most cheapest u really gotta check around all the online sites (hmv JPN, cdjapan, yesasia or whatever) ...i went with yesasia b/c i had a free $5 gift cert and i was planning to buy both limited + normal (JPN vers) so i did get free shipping...

i do end up paying more with hmvjp and cdjapan...i guess it depends where u are and stuff

cherii - April 20, 2008 10:07 AM (GMT)
The only Japanese Edition CD is My Gen/Understand.

Apparently the Japanese Edition is $60, whereas HK is like $30. Me? Pay $60 for a CD? My parents would kill me. Hah.

Lol, its not just you. They quality is kinda different. :what

Ehh? The limited JPN version is still available at cdjapan and HMV right now...

Well, I would buy the Japan version no matter what because it's like the "real deal" and it supports Oricon sales.

If you're short on cash then just get the HK ver. from yesasia.
Last time I ordered from them... my order didn't come until 3months later and it was kinda scratched... :shock

Haha. Just go with the cheapest site would be best.

The prices of these different sites are varied and yes, it depends on what you buy.

Finally, I ordered the Limited from HMV Japan because I ordered other items (some magazines) which in total cost,it is cheaper than yesasia.

Thank again everyone! your comments are really helpful. :good

$60 isn't that bad for a CD. Honestly...

asuna - April 22, 2008 02:05 PM (GMT)
^ says the guy who bought its happy line for a small fortune =P

i'm used to buying HK version CDs, so i guess its not a big issue.

HK versions are not inferior to the Japanese versions in any way, plus u get an additional translated lyrics booklet XD

cherii - April 23, 2008 08:37 AM (GMT)
$60 isn't bad for a CD? I'm a high school student without a job yet, because she's too lazy to go looking. I didn't know the_chap had It's happy line...

Anyway..I only brought $70 on the day...and spent a little over $10 for a pair of really cool earrings. They're so cute!*ahem* Anyways...yeah...even if it was there in the shelves yesterday, I wouldn't have been able to afford it. >_>

the_chap - April 23, 2008 11:27 AM (GMT)
@Cherii: =P It's Happy Line =P

Anyway, here's a good blog post about JPN and HK edition of CDs.
http://listentheworld.wordpress.com/2008/0...know-about-cds/

Also, Japan is abbreviated as JPN, not Jap.

Hard to tell... There's no picture. Could be a Taiwan or Korean Limited Edition version.

Agnofinis - May 3, 2008 10:10 PM (GMT)
K thanks for all the help :good

This is is definately Japanese Version : http://www.hmv.co.jp/product/detail/2685498

They do accept overseas orders, but the shipping cost is not included.

For more information on shipping cost, please refer to: http://www.hmv.co.jp/help/helpmain.asp?q=024003002
