Title: Toronto YUI-Lover Gathering/Outing #8
Description: The album is arriving soon!

s0l1dsn8k3 - April 10, 2008 03:48 PM (GMT)
I just received an email and they said the shipment of the album is on its way. So with this news, it's time to plan another outing.

I removed the previous #8 thread because it didn't go anywhere with the reading week. But the school term is almost over and with exams coming up, it'll be like last year again where we meet on the last weekend of April or early May.

Right now, it looks like April 26, 27, May 3 or 4. Please reply with any preferred date for the outing, or any other dates that you prefer.

Time and place are still to be determined. But since spring is here, we can once again have an Outdoor outing.

hmm. Don't think I'll be able to make it to this one =S, I've got a bunch of stuff to take care of... (plus, stupid UofT's exams don't end until may 7th for me =___=)

Eh? That's late! I go to UTM and the latest exam I heard of is on the 28th.

---

I'll be able to attend this outing most likely. Preferably early May though, I'm moving on the 24th and I'll be really busy moving stuff around.

s0l1dsn8k3 - April 12, 2008 06:43 AM (GMT)
Yeah ... downtown UT has exams that go way into May. Even UTSC usually have exams up to the first week of May, and most of them happen to be Computer Science exams. :angry

Hey cLam, most likely it will be sometime in May anyway. And Razgriz just replied above saying that he prefers May also.

So ... how about we aim for May 10 or 11 right now?

And like before, I work on Saturday but will be available after 4pm. And I should be available all day Sunday also.

nataliejwong - April 13, 2008 02:40 PM (GMT)
I'm done school forever. But now I have to find a job.. -.-

I should be okay with any weekend in May.

I guess I 'should' be okay for may 10 or 11 (but if it's the 10th, let me know early, so I can take off my volunteer work) :)

Orange Toast - April 19, 2008 01:23 AM (GMT)
Want to set the date to May 11th then? So we have the whole afternoon.

yukio - April 19, 2008 02:24 AM (GMT)

iuno how long im staying for tho.

but im full time driving now, so im pretty sure i can take the car.... assuming its somewhere close... cuz im noob lmao

as for time and place, are we actually gonna have a program, meaning like food, go somewhere or w/e? or is it just a time at a park? or mayb a picnic at a park, i think u guys did that before?

Razgriz - April 19, 2008 04:42 AM (GMT)
The 11th is better for me as well haha.

nataliejwong - April 21, 2008 05:03 PM (GMT)
I'm good with May 11th as well. I think Cross can come too, but I'll just let him add himself to the list... :)

Any ideas where we should have this outing?

I suggested the beach. Either Scarborough Bluffs or Woodbine Beach. If we go with Woodbine Beach, we'll have to arrive there early (before 12pm) for parking spots.

I'm in.

Razgriz - April 22, 2008 06:15 PM (GMT)
Haha, I just noticed, May 11th seems to be Mother's Day :'D.

I second the beach motion :D

Darn! I didn't realize May 11th is Mother's Day. Hm... my family usually celebrate these holidays on other days, so it shouldn't be a problem for me.

s0l1dsn8k3 - April 23, 2008 12:52 AM (GMT)
been busy the past few days, so I didn't even visit the forum.

May 11th seems to be good for most people, including myself ... until the revelation by Razgriz. :angry =P

For myself, my family doesn't care much for Mother's day celebration. Maybe just a morning dim sum with Grandma. My mom doesn't really mind it and she's flexible that we can have dinner on other days.

So ... I guess right now, we need everyone to check with their moms and see if they'll be doing anything special on mother's day. Otherwise, we can't confirm the date of the outing.

So people, please check with your family ASAP and post your response.

cLam - April 23, 2008 04:45 AM (GMT)
yep, I'm still fine with the 11th. =)

FrozenNhiem - April 23, 2008 09:03 PM (GMT)
im fine with it

nataliejwong - April 24, 2008 03:17 AM (GMT)
Any ideas where we should have this outing?

You can add to this list or vote for one.

- Scarborough Bluffs // mostly rocks, a very small beach + water
- Woodbine Beach // nice grasslands, sandy beach + water
- Centre Island // (http://www.centreisland.ca/)
- Toronto Zoo // animals, animals, animals

s0l1dsn8k3 - April 24, 2008 03:30 AM (GMT)
If we choose the Bluffs, Woodbine, or Centre Island, how about we do some biking and/or rollerblading?

Razgriz - April 24, 2008 03:33 AM (GMT)
I'm fine for the 11th still.

Just a heads up guys, the cherry blossoms at High Park are supposed to be in full bloom sometime around our outing date, but they only last for a week.

So if they're in full bloom on the 11th, that could be another option :)

For now, I'm good for any of the options Natalie proposed so far. If you guys wanted to have more time playing guitar though, I dunno if the zoo would be a good choice.

s0l1dsn8k3 - April 24, 2008 04:25 AM (GMT)
High Park looks like a good location. You have the park there, and just to the south is the beach by the lake.

nataliejwong - April 24, 2008 01:59 PM (GMT)
Cool! High Park looks like a great place to have our outing! I never been there too.

More information on High Park on the City of Toronto site:

FrozenNhiem - April 25, 2008 04:16 AM (GMT)
high park sounds good cause then if its there i can just bus there -__- gas cost to much lol

Cross - April 26, 2008 03:40 AM (GMT)
Sorry peoples, count me out for May 11. Going out on Mother's Day is a no-go for me =(

Orange Toast - April 28, 2008 05:08 AM (GMT)
Since Cross can't come on May 11. How about pushing it back a week to the 18th? So we can get everyone to come and nobody would miss out on anything.

Razgriz - April 28, 2008 03:37 PM (GMT)
Pushing back wouldn't be a problem for me either, as long as we don't push back far enough for it to go into my Anime North weekend >=( .

Also, our outing would already be too late for the cherry blossoms, since they're already starting to bloom, about 70-80% in bloom right now:

They're saying that late this week should be the best time to view them, assuming the cold weather and rain doesn't kill the buds haha. Just some random info for those who want to go see 'em anyways.

the_chap - April 28, 2008 04:26 PM (GMT)
OMG, the cherry blossoms look awesome.

nataliejwong - April 28, 2008 06:07 PM (GMT)
Doesn't matter to me. Up to you guys. I really wanted to see those cherry blossoms though.

cLam - April 28, 2008 06:15 PM (GMT)
It doesn't matter for me either.

But yeah, those cherry blossoms look so nice! Too bad we'll be missing them. (I would go to just check it out... if it wasn't for my exams =_____=)

s0l1dsn8k3 - April 28, 2008 06:24 PM (GMT)
^ I think if it wasn't for your exams, we would be having the outing a week earlier on May 4.

Maybe us Scarb/Markham people can do a spontaneous outing this coming weekend to go see the cherry blossoms? Anyone up for that?

:cry aww.. don't make me feel bad

Anyways.. a spontaneous outing to see the cherry blossoms is a good idea (lol, that way, I'd be able to see them through photos =D)

Poor cLam, there there *pat pat* lol

I'll likely be going Thursday, since the weather doesn't look too favorable for the weekend with the rain and cold temperatures....

Ok ... looks like everyone should be ok for May 18th right? If that's the case, we'll go with that date.

yukio - May 1, 2008 04:17 PM (GMT)
oO lol im not gonna b there for may 18th i have a church retreat, and im leading worship there hahahahaha. so i cant say yes to may 18th.. if u guys stick with this day, its ok, just count me out for this one..

nataliejwong - May 1, 2008 10:34 PM (GMT)
May 18 should be okay for me.

FrozenNhiem - May 4, 2008 11:48 PM (GMT)
i cant make it, i have to go to us that weekend to visit my grandpa... ill arrange to pick it up the week before that or something

s0l1dsn8k3 - May 5, 2008 05:09 PM (GMT)
So is Sunday May 11 still ok for everyone, except Cross? If it is, then we'll just stick with this date and head for High Park?

The current for calls for a 60% chance of rain with a high of 14C. The probability of rain may change with the forecast later in the week, but most likely the temperature will still be around that range. I suggest everyone we dress in layers and with a jacket.

nataliejwong - May 7, 2008 02:40 AM (GMT)
I'm okay still. There's a few more days... hopefully the weather will change to 'sunny'.
