Title: Updated Media Guidelines
Description: Every Member MUST READ!

s0l1dsn8k3 - April 1, 2008 07:01 PM (GMT)
As many of you already know, this year for YUI's 21st birthday, we have sent a birthday present which includes our 2nd Collaboration and letters from our members promoting our forum to YUI.

However, with the promotion and exposure of our forum to YUI and her staff (and potentially Sony of course), we also run the risk of any potentially any legal actions taken against this forum for any copyright infringement for files that are posted here for download, even if they are not directly hosted on the forum itself.

After some deliberation between the moderators and admins, we have decided to update the Sharing Media Guidelines to reflect the current situation and limit any potential damages that may be charged to the forum in the future.

Below is the additional rules we have made. Every member should also review the entire Guideline to ensure that you follow the rules of the form.

  • NO Official YUI CDs, DVDs, or Taiyou no Uta rips: I'm not trying to be mean, but because of our recent promotion and exposure of our forum to YUI and her staff, we do not want to risk any legal possibilities. These are items that you can purchase so please support our beloved YUI if you can. If you wish to share, you can do so at your own risk through PM. This forum will not be responsible for any personal conduct through PM.
  • Absolutely NO Leaked Releases: This already encompassed by the rule above, but just want to re-enforce that no leaked copies of any YUI CDs or DVDs maybe posted here. Any leaked release posts will be removed. Repeat offenders may be subject to account suspensions and /or terminations.
  • TV/Radio Performances and MP3 rips of these may stay (for now): Since most of us do not live in Japan, for now, we will continue to allow captures of TV and radio shows.

The Non-YUI Media Guidelines is also updated with the same new rules. Everyone should review that as well.

I know it may seem harsh to some members that we are not openly sharing MP3s anymore. But put it into perspective, if you would like YUI to visit this forum one day, then this is the first of many necessary steps to ensure an pleasant forum for YUI to visit.

In the next few days and weeks, we will begin removing all topics and threads that contain download links of YUI MP3s and DVDs. Links will the deleted and the thread will also be removed. Any recent topic starters and anyone that had posted links inside the topics will be notified by PM regarding the topic/thread removal.

Also, in about a week's time, YUI's 3rd album will be released. It goes without saying that this album and her later singles or albums, before or after its release, will also be prohibited from openly posting it on the forum. If you decide to share it through PM, you must do it at your own risk and discretion and will be fully responsible for any conduct.

The change of the guidelines does not change the fact that we are all here to gather as fans of YUI. And it is because we are fans of YUI that we must take this to heart. I hope every member will respect the decision made by the moderators and admins of this forum.

EDIT: Those that have posted MP3s, DVDs, etc recently, you may also remove the links yourself to comply with the new rules in the guideline.

yeap~ got it~
Loud & Clear^^

(YF is going for the same move as well, soon LOL~)
:rolleye

natsumi - April 2, 2008 06:40 AM (GMT)
got it too...
can this be called the price that we have to pay in order for YUI to notice the existence of the forum... :rolleye
well, we can always get them from some other sites/source.. *cough**cough*
*sigh*

Fujii_Itsuki - April 2, 2008 07:03 AM (GMT)
Yeap. Understood. The link for the forum is already on the YL Collaboration CD...so unless we want to get into trouble, no choice but to enforce stricter rule. Just hope that the TV/radio shows will still stay as 'safe zone' in the future.

Just a note. I don't think the hardcore leechers will read or even notice this thread...maybe you should PM everyone...else, be prepared to do a lot of 'cleaning up'...

kakashi - April 2, 2008 12:35 PM (GMT)
Arg !! :( oh well ...

good to buy the real CD itself :D

Dnee Chan - April 2, 2008 02:49 PM (GMT)
How about Scanned YUI CD is that allowed?? :YUIFace

s0l1dsn8k3 - April 2, 2008 02:59 PM (GMT)
^ For now we will allow the CD scans. Right now it's only the official CD mp3s and DVD videos that should not be posted.

br4d137 - April 2, 2008 03:34 PM (GMT)
im with this rule all the way...

ill find my media somewhere else... but the chance for YUI to notice us is a once and a lifetime opportunity...

Dnee Chan - April 2, 2008 06:04 PM (GMT)
erm Just my idea How about we make another forum, totally different from yui-lover.com for sharing YUI files :hee so basically this site If YUI has mention it just for discussion :sry

KaiserKawaii - April 3, 2008 04:30 PM (GMT)
understood, but i don't know how to rip YUI's songs from my own cd... how do i do it?...

but pls don't remove live performances... i think it's not part of it...

shinji_tono - April 3, 2008 04:31 PM (GMT)
gee this is so sad. but we took the risk. I hope this is worth it.

Its easy to do, To rip You just need Windows Media Player but the Output is WMA if you wanna MP3 format just take a look at Itunes or any other converter but myself im using Itunes because its FREE :sry
For Itunes just go to Edit tabs then Go to Preferences then Go to advance tabs then Look for Importing Tabs so in that You can config what encoder you wanna use, for default Itunes will set ACC encoder. Hope that can help you to Rip your CD :)

hungrydragon - April 4, 2008 07:49 AM (GMT)
I agree with DNEE!

the_alchemist - April 4, 2008 04:12 PM (GMT)
i'm glad that the live performances media is still allowed to share..
so this is like a trade-off in order to make YUI visit our forum.. hmm..it's a hard deal.. but if YUI really come here and say hello to us, it will definitely worth it..
and i think maybe it will be the most awesome thing ever happened to this forum..

Yui je t'aime - April 4, 2008 06:16 PM (GMT)
New rules r ok, but why is the "Share Yui Media Forum" still online?

tsunvun86 - April 5, 2008 03:01 AM (GMT)
Reading more carefully will answer your question.
Cheers ^^

I agree with DNEE!

I don't agree ... since I think the best MP3s are ripped with Exact Audio Copy and then encode with LAME encoder.

natsumi - April 5, 2008 07:47 AM (GMT)
erm.. a question here... will apple lossless files sounds alot nicer than normal 320kbps mp3 rips??
sry for being out of topic.... but i've always been wonderin bout that...

Fujii_Itsuki - April 5, 2008 08:01 AM (GMT)
For the same source files. Lossless files would normally be more superior than normal mp3s. It's called lossless for a reason. The quality is not lost. But the size would also be bigger than normal mp3s.

natsumi - April 5, 2008 08:12 AM (GMT)
ic... thx!!

Oops, thx ^_^

But TV Shows r also protected, there could also b problems because of them.

bongoyoyo - April 6, 2008 07:44 AM (GMT)
This question is maybe weird... or maybe NOT. Why don't we just write a letter to YUI official site to complain to them that for what reason they don't open the YUI FAN site for foreigner other than Japanese FAN.

It's a bit unfair. It's not like they open for us free. We have to pay heck of annual fee to access the FAN site just like many other Japanese. Also, if they open to foreigners/oversea YUI fans, then we don't have to desperately sharing illegal YUI files and media here.

Only if i can write good Japanese, otherwise i would write a letter to complain to SONY.

And all i am saying is about SONY, YUI is innocent anyway.

Give your opinion everyone?

p/s i do agree with the forum rules for not posting any YUI official medias to public though. :cool

charcoalz - April 6, 2008 11:45 PM (GMT)
haiii, i understand!~
it's for the benefit of all of us anyways~

thanks for the heads up!

-addicted- - April 7, 2008 10:24 AM (GMT)
yup, understood.
have to search for another source
:rolleye :rolleye

( Thanks to yupeh for informing me)
:sry :sry

cloudscream - April 8, 2008 01:43 AM (GMT)
i understand where YL is at. and they did the right thing to avoid risks and potential legal accusations from SONY.

but well, record companies and artists (and other firms that impose licenses) need to make a living and lose a hell of money due to illegal downloads from the net. music is their product anyway, and it's not free. :angry

we can always find sources other than this site. so let us protect YL from legal complaints.

money makes the world go round i guess...

but thanks to free downloads, i knew, listened, appreciated and loved YUI and her music.

artists really aren't that against internet music donloads (maybe they themselves illegally download music off the net), record companies just hold artists on their necks.

Yui-Lover - April 8, 2008 02:39 AM (GMT)
