Description: on an acoustic..

does anybody here know how to remove a pickguard safely from an acoustic guitar??
Im getting a new one soon, which has a satin with gloss top finish..
My friend said use a glue remover, but Ive also heard about using heat..but Im worried it will damage the finish, or worse the wood =O
can it be done at home, or is it better to take it to a professional.?

I say you should take it to a professional guitar luthier to help you remove the pick guard. It'll cost you, but you can be sure that they'll know what they're doing... hehe. It also helps if you just buy a guitar without a pick guard, but you probably couldn't find one, right?
Your acoustic guitar sounds expensive... gloss top! Are the sides satin then? My acoustic is gloss top with satin back/sides, no pickguard ..;) *drools, lol*
