I've HAD a guitar since about September 2006. Started playing/learning January 2007. New guitar December 2007. So, about a year. wow...only?

Just a month.....ahahahaha! XD im such a newbie...well every1 starts somewhere~

me...it's been two years now...

lets see.. since i started liking YUI... maybe around 06....

but yeah... still suck pretty bad T_T

about 6-7 months (started in summer of 2007), though progression has been slow for me (I don't practice as much as I should :sry )

I started like 2 months ago..i practice a lot..but now my guitar is not tunned..so i have to fix it..so sad...i can only play three YUI songs so far...

@hungrydragon-yea my fingers were the same too..but i got through it..know my fingers are kinda nasty and tough skinned..oh well at least i can play a little

=O waaaaaaah cries* its been almost 5 months since i got my guitar and i havent learn anything help me someone serious! i need to stop appearing on the screen and practice liek for real! TT^TT i got too! uhh almost gonna be 5 month the 5th hehe on my bday *cries miseriablely* im so hopeless....if i juz have lessons but too bad i dunt

omg the important thing--- GUITAR-ING TIME! i wortew dat on my arm to remind me and i was thinking the 5th which its Matsuken's bday on March and YUI's bday its on the 26th so it got me thinking only 22 days before YUI's day and its gonna be 21 days later and it all adds up like this i wrote

I have been guitaring since 2002, I think... but more actively from 2004 or 2005 (actively to me means at least 1 or 2 times a week, but maybe it's more for you...) ... when I decided to learn to play all Bruce Springsteen's songs... after seing him live...

*checks lj* umm since January 13, 2008... ya... lol...
ive only learned one song... right now im learning its happy line... i suck at switching from a chord to another(iz copying that line from j.k) im better at plucking... lol XD *runs*

em...learned a little when i was like...12...
then stop since i had to move..didn't really bother practicing and all last time since i was more interested in drums...
then i met YUI last 2years and started to pick up the guitar again...then on last year around December i got a new guitar and starts to learn more seriously....so you can guess how long I've been playing..since i don't know myself :sry

about....1 month since i got my gig...
cant even play a song....

i'm in the same case as pinku, i suck badly at strumming.
i can play solos but not strums @@
so i gave up practicing strumming, and started playing solos...

Im trying to play It's Happy Line. At first, i cant even move between chords, but now i can slowly.~~ :good. It was so hard trying to pick up strumming at first, like i watched the live like 100 times :what and now, its paying me off :clap

haha, i'm practicing my strumming wif it's happy line too! but i'm still slow~~ so the song sounds pretty....weird??
currently playing Jam's solo now. pretty easy for a solo i muz say.

thats weird how some people think strumming is harder than plucking. strumming is really easy for me. plucking is more impressive sounding & looking though...

i don't have problems reading TABs, it's just making sure my fingers pluck the right strings. i don't know how people can do that. i always hit the wrong strings. >_< even if I go real slow.

ive school so i never have enough time to practice... im improving A BIT but thats all...
the only song i can play right now (strumming) is Secret Letters by HYDE(fangirl pinku! lol XD)
and i can pluck Cape Of Storms(also by HYDE lol) and the super mario Bros Theme XD(cuz of saki lol) but i dunno the strumming part of those 2 songs so yeah(too lazy busy to look for em)
i wanna try doing a solo since im getting faster at plucking...
(i can feel any pain on my fingers anymore o_O whoa)

lol, pretty much since october of 2001? man that was so long ago lol, i remember starting right when one of my friends got into high school...i was in gr 7 at the time XD almost
almost a whole 7 years now...
7 years and i still cant strum properly or use a pick haha strumming is so hard for me XD ...well thats not really a problem since i play fingerpicking songs more than anything else lol suteki da ne and at zanarkand are my favourite songs =D

Lol i know, i can barely pluck the right strings...strumming u just strum everything...

Whats your technique pplz? I'm having a hard time plucking each string...and my neck is hurting from constantly looking lol...

what is the technique? i pluck in a REALLY weird way...

i guess it depends on the song, if its simple enough you can just use your index and thumb for everything but that leads to the bad habit of only using those two fingers.
supposdly, your thumb is suppose to play the low E and A strings and then one finger for each string after that.

if you play an electric you can rest your thumb against the pick up for support.
if not, u can use your ring finger for support on easy songs for an acoustic. just place it on the pickguard and u should be able to stablize your hand over the strings better so u dont wander off and hit the wrong strings.

of course there are more proper ways of doing it but im not one to change cause i have it under muscle memory now lol, change it and i may never play the guitar again lol XD

i use my index and middle and sumtimes my thumb most of the time... its faster easier and u dun get tired easily

but u need to use all ur fingers in a lot of songs

cant live without my pick. i cant play guitar wihtout one.

start play and remember the fingering position of these basic chords like Em, Am, E, C, G, A, F, D, Dm, B.
