some history:


YUI keeps her #1 spot which she had in both charts last year. and Mochida Kaori keeps her #2 spot from July last year. Ai-chin climbed a spot past Ayumi up to #3, and Ayumi had to let Ishikawa Rika (V-u-den) past her too. Takahashi Ai (Morning Musume) climbed a couple of spots past ayaka and BoA and is now #6. both BoA and ayaka (:() have actually made major leaps down, 8 ranks down for both of them. Namie Amuro climbed two spots, Koda Kumi dropped one. new in the top 10 are Abe Natsumi and Yoshizawa Hitomi (former Morning Musume member, now leader of Ongaku Gatas).

i'm very happy to see these results! except the fact that ayaka dropped 8 ranks to #15, it's only good news for me. :D YUI still in top (:D :D :D), Ai-chin up to #3 (:D :D :D), and check out all those H!P artists! Ishikawa Rika at #4 (which i'm not very happy about, since i don't like her), Takahashi Ai at #6, Abe Natsumi at #7, Yoshizawa Hitomi at #9, Tanaka Reina at #11, Kamei Eri at #14 and last but absolutely not least Niigaki Risa at #18. :D hiroko at #12 is nice too. and Aragaki Yui at #17.

you see that Otsuka Ai was #1 back in 2005. :D check out 2001-2004, Abe Natsumi (Morning Musume, then solo) totally reigned the charts! then she dropped to #3 and #9 and then she fell out of top 10, but now she's back on #7. :) Ayumi has been in the top for a long time...
also, you can see that the avarage age of the top 10 gets higher and higher with every year. and well, that's because they get older and they don't seem to let any new artists in...

i wonder why there's no data from 2005 Jul - 2006 Jul. :( maybe they didn't do it during that time. that's a pity.
edit: yeah, it says underneath that they didn't. and that they only listed 1-5 in those two charts without 6-10.

But then again, that means I'll have more competitors to rival against!! Haha, just kidding.
Looking at the top 3: Yui, Mochida Kaori and Otsuka Ai, all 3 of them are rather reserved, soft spoken girls, compared to artistes like Ayumi, Koda Kumi, Hiroko etc, who are more outspoken. Maybe their soft-spokeness does make fans want to know more about them, and thus their high ranking.

As for the guys, I'm not surprised at all at JE's domination in the ranking, since more than half of the male artistes are, in fact, from JE. (or at least the popular ones)

And who's Kiyokiba Shunsuke? Haha pardon my oblivion, but I've barely heard of his name before.

Im really glad to be able to spend my 21st birthday in Japan this yr. [I spent my 15th(Sapporo) and 17th(Chiba) birthdays in Japan too, through exchange programmes!]

i'm from Vancouver, Canada...i'd like to try the exchange program but i dunno what kinda courses i'd be able to take cuz the program i'm taking is quite new and specific with their requirements..i'm not sure if i have anymore free electives >__< ..the sucky thing about my program is that it's all team-based so i go missing for a term...i may end up working on bad teams and have a stress attack with the workload placed on me LOL....and i'm scared if i do go to japan for exchange i'll want to change what i study..i dun wanna waste the money spent on my education from all these years >__<

but i think i may graduate in 2009 Fall or 2010 Spring...but there's also Field Study in Italy that's offered every summer where a lot of students compete for...i'm not sure if i'm up for it yet cuz it costs probably $6000-10, 000 with expenses...for like 3 months in Italy but we get to visit design firms and go around different cities...and ur stuck with like 13-15 other people for that long undertaking charettes and assignments ...definitely a worthwhile experience but i'm not sure about what i wanna do yet so that's smthn i gotta figure out

icic. Well it's all up to you eventually. I studied the Science stream (Physics, Chemistry) from Secondary 3 all the way till Junior College (High School), but the course I'll be taking in University is totally non-science-related. In fact, I'm thinking of taking up something like Sociology/ Social studies or International Relations, or maybe a new language. You might say I've wasted all my time studying Science previously. I did think about this for a long time before making such a decision. I felt that I wouldn't want to get into a job that's science-related in future (cuz I'm not really good in practical science). There are, of course, other reasons. Well, I'm not coercing you into making any decision. Just something for you to think about.

Yeah, any form of overseas study will incur lots of money expenditure. For my studies too, I have to rely much on my parents. Of course, I'll be working part time too. Anyway, Italy does sound like a fun place to go to!
