Description: how to add subtitles into videos?

swing - January 14, 2008 12:31 PM (GMT)
i recently downloaded a video without subtitles.
after that i found a subtitle for it.
usually i just have to put it in the same folder, and use the same name for them to watch the video with subtitles.

but now, i want to convert the video(avi) into mp4 so that i can watch it on my psp. after i convert it, i realise that even though i add the srt file into my psp folder, the sub does not appear.

anybody can show me how to embed the sub permanently into the video?
or is there any way i can show the sub on my psp without hardsubbing the vid?

Kinda of a late answer. PSP does not play separate subtitle files by default. However, if you update your PSP with a custom firmware, then you can use PMPlayer and encode your video in PMP format. With PMPPlayer, it can play video and subtitles.

To encode hardsubbed video, there are plenty of tutorials on the web. Just google them up.

Sorry for late reply, too. You can use Virtualdub Mod to MUX the sub with your video files then encode it. The sub will become hardsub on the outcoming video. Or use XviD4PSP, this converter is a great video converter for PSP, iPod, etc.. It have a lot of option to play with, and can make a hardsubbed video, too.
