Title: Your Guitar Passion

DJAffinity - December 18, 2007 05:12 PM (GMT)
What would you do if you know that you lost your passion for guitaring! =O

Whats the best way to get your passion back?

Urgently needed, thank you.

tsunvun86 - December 18, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
-Listen to guitaring playing which you wanted to learn so badly.
-Sleep with your guitar.
-Talk to it.
-Bring it for walks.

About the last 3, you can ask nataliejwong for details cuz I think she does it to her Rylor XD

Anyway.... *ahem*

Maybe you need a breather? Rest a bit and get back to it? But since you're wanting to get back your passion then I guess there is still passion left in you hahaha.

Yeah I think I would listen to stuff that I wanted to learn on the guitar. Maybe that would stimulate the guitaring cells....

Watch YUI (or guitarists you like).

You'll kinda get jealous if they keep on improving hence you'll pick up your guitar again =x

Thanks tsunvun86... gessh, now everyone knows my love affair secret with my guitar... -.-

:what

When I purchased my first guitar, I was really obsessed with it. I did hug it to sleep... lol. With my current acoustic, I can't sleep with my guitar because he already has a very comfy bed for himself.. it's called a hardshell case. Hehe. I do wipe my guitar everyday, because I play it everyday. When I first started learning the guitar, my goal was to learn it because there weren't many female guitarists about 7 or 8 years ago. But today, I just play my guitar for fun... and I get my inspiration from other talented guitarists... so it's exactly what atheon wrote already.

Hey! There's nothing wrong with sleeping with your guitar. >_>

Anyways yeah, everything's pretty much already been said. I always see people who can play really well, which makes me want to be able to play as well as them. Oh, and it's fun learning to play the guitar. I play it each day, but I stopped trying to take good care of it since its almost gone.

Oh, and I want to be able to play a YUI song well enough to WANT to post a cover up on YL...someday. XD

yep, true guitarists do that. lol. i do that hahah. kiss it goodnight. lol oh andHAHA this is proof of ur passion for guitar. you love guitars more than girls hahahahaha.

well, listen to solos hahahah. sick stuff like Canon Rock in D, stuff by Yngwie Malmsteen or allt eh other elite people. go on youtube. ull b truly inspired. Jerry C plays pretty cool stuff, tho hes not hte best out there, the songs sound good. for me also stuff thats REALLY fast and HEADBANG makes me wanna get up and get my electric and go crazy haha

or change the look of ur guitar.

i started getting tired of my takamine, and then i took off hte pickguard, and my love for it has grown and blooming. lol i play it non stop. i just like how it looks withouth the pickguard. try doing something with ur guitar lol. just dont wreck it lol.

or buy a new guitar haha. new guitars always makes u want to play them, caress them, or just stare at them

or basically anything new. get urself a good multifx pedal and u will want to play ur guitar just to play with the effects.

I'm leaving my Taylor the way it is... if I do buy a beater guitar (maybe I lower cost Taylor like the Big Baby) in the future, I might decorate it with drawings and such... but for now. I'm perfectly :) with my Taylor.

DJAffinity
To be honest, I'm not really all that good. I never had formally training with the guitar. I only play basic chords, and notes... heh. But I learned a lot of guitar tips/cheat chords from guitarists from my old church. I have taught a few people back in hs, and I am teaching another hs friend to play guitar right now. He's doing pretty well, he can do fingerstyle picking now.

But yeah, it's harder to teach if you don't live in Toronto.. I tried teaching one Singaporean member via Skype, but the connection was really lagging... maybe you can find a few local guitar friends to help you out?

:sry

or... you can always fly to Toronto, lol.

FORCE myself to watch live =X the more i watch, the more i want to play like YUI >.< that's what i thought so...maybe you can make a try on this? :sry

listen to and learn new songs! try not to play everyday (sorry natalie :P) cos it gets boring after awhile if u keep practising the same thing over and over again (especially when u just start out). maybe alternate days, for 1-2 hours a day, and aim for a new song every week =) try out different genres like jazz, blues, funk etc. switch between lead and rhythm to add some variety (i always play as both Gotoh and Kita when playing AKFG songs heh)

i keep my passion alive by visiting guitar shops and drooling over the guitars, effects pedals and amps there. it helps especially when u dont have much to begin with (unless u have real good stuff like Fender/Gibson/PRS/Taylor/Takamine)
i hope they dont sue me for saliva on their stuff =P

treat your guitar like your baby! i always try to wipe it down after playing, but the strings are getting rusty now.. gotta get em changed soon

and finally... get a bunch of guitar freak friends and jam together! ^^

You're totally right. Learning new songs will motivate you to play your guitar more... that's with no doubt. But I still prefer to play songs I've learned once in a while or else I might just forget how to play them. It has happened before, and I regret not practicing it at least once a month to refresh my memory. I try to learn new songs along the way too, of course.. :)
