Anyone here heard of Step Mania?? i've juz started playing this game today and i find it quite interesting. It's some kinda game similiar to DDR. What makes this game special is that you don't need to be online to play this and there's a wide variety of songs to choose from. It seems that you can even create your own songs to play in this game (although i dunno how)!! From what i have seen now,there's a LOT (i'm not kidding) of anime songs out there waiting to be downloaded. Me myself is currently downloading a song by YUI-sama, Rolling Star!! Apparently i've downloaded almost all of Bleach's opening except for Asterisk,which dont seem to be available...I have to say,this game is pretty good for it's size which is 9.3MBs (songs not included) only and there are two game modes in it,Dance or Pump!!

So, anyone played this game before?? any download links to be shared??
Oh,i forgot to mention one thing, you may have already know this: songs must be ownloaded seperately...

Yay a StepMania fan XD i downloaded a couple of songs, and Through the Fire and Flames lol, anyway I only got a pack of anime songs...and a lot of desynced BLEACH songs :what but I also would like to know if there are some good songs out there :good and also...I only have 1 Yui song haha, I'm too lazy to make my own since I don't know...

the most files i've got are from a guy called sadude over at mm-bbs.
and a guy called popcorn over at jpopmusic forums.
most of them are Hello! Project songs, but there're songs by Ayumi Hamasaki, Boa, Koda Kumi and others too.
my brother is on a stepmania craze right now, he's decided to do a long list of songs. i wonder if he'll ever finish that list. :P

oh, and there has been some talk about stepmania and YUI files for it in the DDR thread. :)

i was trying to make a song juz now, Honjitsu wa Seiten Nari by Do As Infinity (since i dreamed about it, LOL..) according to the guitar riffs,but it's juz too hard... it's not impossible to make but i will certainly take a few hours juz to make one song....any tips on now to make it easier to create songs?? It's juz too troublesome...any shortcuts maybe??

@j.k: actually, there is a program that generates dance courses automatically by putting in a song in it. it's called DancingGorilla. it's pretty self explainary and there's tutorials following with it too to help.

I dunno, I downloaded mine a while ago, i think its the oldest one. What does yours look like? You can download skins and stuff but I havent done nething like that. The program itself is called Stepmania CVS

Do you use a pad or the keyboard? I've already played on a pad, it's totally different! :D

I usually play on keyboard but i also have some pads. I usually use the pads with the DDR i have with my PS2 though.

EH ? It's compatible with game pads ???? But my PS2 look alike gamepads isn't working with this game !! Dunno why..

i use the keyboard most of the time, but i think it's more fun with the pads. :) problem is that the neighbors downstairs don't like that their lamps fall down and stuff... but over the holidays i'm at my parents place, so we've got it all set up in the basement for dancing whenever we want. :D

@town_el: do you have a PS2->USB converter? some of those might not work very well. the first one i had only allowed one player to play at a time, so i got a new one.

..Mine is already using USB Gamepad..
For PUMP step, i always use keyboard.. but for DDR steps...
Playing DDR with only one hand is a little..

Has anyone found out what the hidden easter egg is for stepmania?

Im not sure if this is it, but when you get 250 combo without hitting a single Great, this anime girl pops out of the corner and says something, i never hear it because right when she comes out i always lose my Fatastic/Excellent streak and it throws me off. Anyone else ever see this?

Does anyone know how you can get Fraps to record sound? I checked the box that says record sound and it still doesnt work. anyone got a fix?

I have, they are called toasties(singular=toasty) As you said, it only shows up after 250 combos and none can be greats, it usually means you are on your way to AAA. Oh, Jubo, from Otakusdream, has made a custom toasty. Here is the link: Shakugan no SHANA toasty Also at otakusdream, i recommend downloading their otaku dream mixes, most songs have awesome steps and if you play online, the anime rooms normally play only these mixes, or else you will be nagged by everybody to download them.

Ahhh...I see, I've never triple A a song before lol. Sounds kinda difficult seeing as how theres like 500 something steps in the song >_<" Maybe I'll be able to do it someday...




EDIT: Hmm...i tried using that Shana toasty but now when i try to play a song SM just closes itself...not sure whats wrong here...maybe i'll try the other version of it

i actually have quite a few slow songs on my computer, but theres like 600 steps within 2 minutes. just because the song is slow doesnt mean the arrows will be slow, they just have to stay in beat with the song. i go 3x speed on everything anyways so slow songs will end up being fast. and really, how many ppl are actually dancing when they play DDR lol, we're just kinda jumping in one spot XD

the step pattern itself isnt too complicated but its the sheer speed and volume that they come in that throws you off, in using 3x speed though.
