i'm not sure what u want but here's some good brands to get started with:
Sony VAIO - expensive but looks really good
HP - popular, looks good, has good support
Dell - relatively cheap, good support, dull designs
IBM/Lenovo - cheap, usually with good features, unexciting design
Fujitsu - compact, many features and innovations
LG - sleek (chocolate series)
keep in mind that each brand carries different ranges, such as the basic types for normal use, business/student, entertainment, gaming/graphics. the prices increase along the list, from $1500 for a basic one to $5000 for a high-end gaming one
aaah! don forget ASUS...
it not a bad make at all.... though fairly cheap i might add. though it can heat quickly depending on model, sum more expensive models hav loong battery life like 6 hrs!
