Sometimes I get that. But when I do, I just post again immediately and it just works fine. Have you tried that? post again immediately even if you get that error?
Jill-Jênn - October 9, 2007 05:28 AM (GMT)
s0l1dsn8k3, it's the same for me, except I always have to send my messages twice...

We have a new shoutbox now, you should be able to post on it.
bo_thug - October 9, 2007 06:41 AM (GMT)

What you talking about? it is right where the old shout box was :what
s0l1dsn8k3 - October 9, 2007 06:52 AM (GMT)
actually, right now, I don't even see to old shoutbox anymore.
bo_thug - October 9, 2007 06:53 AM (GMT)
I TOTALLY DON'T SEE ANY SHOUTBOX. SERIOUSLY.
Helixius - October 9, 2007 12:00 PM (GMT)
I can see the new shoutbox. But I think there are 2 things that should be improved, each line takes up too much space, and the 2 red lines below the shoutbox look odd.

Didn't you see it or wasn't it there?
Yup, the red lines look odd ^^
Hey Reset, did YOU program it? :D
Edit: I think you didn't. Seems to be an InvisionFree feature ^^
It would be cool if we had local time too :D
s0l1dsn8k3 - October 9, 2007 04:29 PM (GMT)
local time? You mean the time of each post? This new shoutbox, since it's based on the forum, I think it displays the time according to your own person preference setting. If you have done this and see your own local timezone for regular posts, then I think you'll see it in your local timezone.
nataliejwong - October 9, 2007 08:54 PM (GMT)
The new shoutbox is pretty cool, but the box seems to be a bit too short in height. The user name point size can be decreased by one or two points.
***If you use Safari, there will be some problems with this new shout box... (for example, if you would like to reply to a thread, the msg box will appear on the right of the shoutbox and part of the msg box is cut off. Basically, you can't type in anything in the box and some of the icons are missing.)
Here's a screenshot of it, click
here!:( ... looks like I'll have to use Firefox on my Mac now. *Grins*
Reset - October 9, 2007 09:25 PM (GMT)
Some people like it bigger Some like it smaller, there is just can't have both :(
I will try to ask the creator of this code see if there will be a Safari fix later, but right now can't really do anything.
nataliejwong - October 9, 2007 09:41 PM (GMT)
The shoutbox is good now. The height of it, perfect. :)
Most members use PCs anyway, so it's okay if you can't make it work for Safari. No sweat.
Thanks though, Reset!
s0l1dsn8k3 - October 9, 2007 10:02 PM (GMT)
Firefox is better anyway. =P

I still like the simple and cleaner layout with Safari... besides the developers for Firefox helped designed Safari, so either way, they're both made by the same people.
:P

Is it a module that you can't modify?

Of COURSE it's NOT! =O (:D hehe j/k).

I meant local time of each person. It would be funny to post a message at 3:43 pm two minutes after a post posted at 11:41 pm.
And it's easy to code, thanks to
localtime().
Edit: sorry for double post, can someone delete the first message?

This shoutbox is based on the forum itself and your setting in your forum control panel. If you set your timezone correctly in the control panel, then you should see the shoutbox post time translated to your timezone, just like any other posts on the forum.
So in your example, a post that is two minutes after 11:41pm your own time will be shown as 11:43, even if that person on the other side of the world who posted his message in his timezone of 3:43pm.
As much as we like to tinker with the PHP codes, because we are using a free public service, we cannot change any of the PHP codes of the board. I did find the code for this shoutbox so I might take a look and see what makes it tick.

Done!
Jill-Jênn - October 10, 2007 04:04 PM (GMT)
Lol s0l1dsn8k3, actually I've understood the stuff with the profile, but don't you think it would be funny to have the local time of each person in the shoutbox? So we wouldn't have to ask everyone "What time is it where you live?".
Thanks.
Reset - October 10, 2007 05:05 PM (GMT)
You have no idea of how limited this forum can modify :(
snake even if you find the code fix, you still have to find a host for the code.
s0l1dsn8k3 - October 10, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
@ Jill-Jênn - haha ... I see what you mean now. Yeah that would be funny if it shows in each user's respective time, but that would be more confusing than funny after the first few initial giggles.
@ Reset - doesn't InvisionFree come with like 16MB of space? The shoutbox code is only a few kb in size. Just upload to the YL account and link to it the same way.

What about putting both hours? Or better: a tiny checkbox which switchs from "local for everyone" to "local for me" :P
s0l1dsn8k3 - October 10, 2007 08:53 PM (GMT)
haha ... that will involve some major PHP and java scripting ... which I don't think we have access to, unfortunately.
Reset - October 11, 2007 03:03 AM (GMT)
Ok, Nat
Fixed your Safari problem, try it out :cool
nataliejwong - October 11, 2007 03:10 PM (GMT)

Thank you very much. How did you to fix it so fast?
Reset - October 11, 2007 05:29 PM (GMT)
This one is quite easy, cus it got nothing do with the code.
All I need it to installed safari and as soon as I get to see the problem, I know how to fix it.
Jill-Jênn - October 11, 2007 05:38 PM (GMT)
Ok, but weren't you NOT able to modify the code?
Hey there is the same problem in the "View profile" page.
And nataliejwong, do you have too the neverending loading bar while you're on the forum?
s0l1dsn8k3 - October 11, 2007 05:48 PM (GMT)
As Reset said, the posting page problem had nothing to do with coding.
As for neverending loading bar/counter, I sometimes get that too in Firefox, even though everything on the forum seems loaded already.

Oh right. The 'view profile' isn't fixed, but most people don't click that... haha. Well, I don't.
Hm, nope. My loading bar is okay. It just lags sometimes because my wireless is kind of crappy. But the page loads way faster with my iMac than my Powerbook.
Reset - October 12, 2007 03:51 AM (GMT)
I did not see the view profile problem with my windows safari.
Can you make a screen cap please?
I did manage to see it for a split sec and it return to normal.
natsumi - October 12, 2007 04:36 AM (GMT)

nataliejwong - October 12, 2007 12:32 PM (GMT)
Hm, the problem is back. I can't type anything into the postbox and it's shifted to the right again.

Natalie you could try to set your board setting --> Number of posts to show for each topic page to 15 and your post reply box problem should be fix.
Jill-Jênn - October 12, 2007 07:06 PM (GMT)
Here is the neverending bar... wait! it stopped! But it took time, and yesterday it didn't stopped at all...
