minasan, do you guys know any other j-artists who are singer/songwriters and play acoustic guitar, like YUI? preferably male singers too, and like songs that are less rock, more acoustic based?

umm... try The Indigo's song called "Under the blue sky"... and some Rie Fu songs... and...
The Brilliant Green has some acoustic sounding songs... "Tsumetai Hana" is a great song...and also "Rock N' Roll", "Rainy Days Never Stays", and tons of other songs...
tons of ppl said that their song "Stand By Me" sounded YUI-ish so u should try that...
not sure if thats the kind ur looking for but yeah... its close enough...
for male... HYDE's "Shallow Sleep" and... yeah...

I recommend KOBUKURO. It a duo group. One plays the guitar and sing, and the other guy ... well just sings. But their vocals are A+++ compare to other artists. But then again, I'm biased

^ i agree...kobukuro is awesome...
hurm...what about suga shikao?

lol awesome! thnx guys! ill check them out, i heard like one or two sugashikao songs but i think they're bit too pop for me lol
edit: oh wow! kobukuro is really awesome, its rare to find such good vocals lol. but iuno i havent gotten use to it so their songs still sound a bit... too artsy right now. still good tho

There's a band called Missile Innovation, which Ryo Owatari (formerly of Do As Infinity) founded. They have this really really pretty song called "Suna no Oshiro", and it's acoustic-based.
Suno no Oshiro:

lol okuda has a great voice, but it sounds like hes kiling his strings in his acoustic lives lmaoo. i feel sry for the strings. he looks like hes enjoying the music tho
asian kungfu gen is AWESOME lol. but too bad theyre not acoustic based. but actually i used to be really heavy in terms of music.. i listened to metal and screamo hahaha, and punk. and now i've toned down
