OMGG i love switchfoot loll! they are just sooo good. for those that don't know them, they are a pop rock band, some of the time leaning onto rock more. they have a huge range of songs.
and Jon Foreman their lead singer and also guitarist, is amazingg!! haha have u seen him live, smashing on cymbals, going crazy, jumping al over hte place, smashing guitars, haha. and his voice is just like... OMG. lol
Switchfoot actaulyl sounds beter LIVE than they do on records hahah, and recordings of course sound good as well.
i might be able to upload their San Diego 2004 live concert, its an hour long of mp3 haha, it wasnt cut. but yea its kinda old but thats the only actual full live concert i have, and they are amazing haha.

zenaku - September 21, 2007 07:16 PM (GMT)
a few years ago i heard them from a friend of a friend. also played meant to live and learning to breathe as covers in gigs before. i like them cuz they have a wide range but also dont like some of their songs. like 'gone' lol, too different imo. i like meant to live and this is your life the best. they're kinda inactive now arent they? but from that friend of a friend, i heard they're making an album for next year. dunno if its true.

Yay! Someone made a new Switchfoot thread. I kind of stopped listening to them. My style has shifted . . . More into Classical and soft rock/pop now. But the Switchfoot listening days were great.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=djZMqZMtPC4I love switchfoot too, I was browsing thru tele when I heard We Are One Tonight and i just fell n love with that song. I like how they are a guitar laden band (they've got 3 guitarists in it) and their songs doesn't sound too popish.
And yes, they are working on a new album. My current favorites are Awakening and Let Your Love Be Strong.
yukio - September 22, 2007 12:33 AM (GMT)
YEA I've SEEN ALL OF THE PODCASTS they are soooo funny hahaha i love them
And u know they're now an indie band haha. cuz they had some conflict with their recording label and just decided to go independent. haha, they definitely have the resources haha
they're constantly sending out new things lol, they've been around for so long yet they're just as amazing as always.
yeah the band is packed with talent. three guitars if needed, jerome can do synth and keyboard no problem, their sound is so full. mannn
and they're all so down to earth, no like cockness at all, like i saw a vid of them hanging with some fans after a concert, and someone sed theres another concert somewhere else, and they're like OH lets go... but we dont have a ride... lol and then they rode in one of the fans' car hahaha. sooo down to earth, and especially if u see like jon foreman on the street or something and u ask him, he'll just like chat with u, they're so awesome haha and in their interviews they're so humble haha
sirnanzy - September 22, 2007 01:03 AM (GMT)
INDIE BANDS ROCK! there's a band in Malaysia who plays Switchoot style, lots of reverb and delay but dresses like Muse hahaha
Humbleness = they really do enjoy music rather than enjoying making money. I think.
And yea, its so cool to see him having a LP strapped with him and playing the keyboard at the same time
yukio - September 27, 2007 10:25 PM (GMT)
yea... LPs lol i want an authentic gibson onee
wts the malay band's name? are they big?
mangomalte - September 27, 2007 11:53 PM (GMT)
switchfoot are great! i love them! :D
i got hooked on switchfoot back in 1999 when i heard "new way to be human" on a free cd with lots of other christian stuff on. too bad i didn't have any money to buy their albums back then. :P got their three first ones now, though (even though their later are better).
anyone else here that thinks that Oh! Gravity is a masterpiece? i love it! especially Faust, Midas and Myself. excellent song. and the Awakening MV was really funny, reminded me of how fun guitar hero is.
anyway, awesome band. not counting j-music, they're the ones i listen most to. :)
sirnanzy - September 28, 2007 01:47 AM (GMT)
The band's name is Bittersweet, they sing english songs and they're quite good, there are tons of Malaysian bands out there who are really good.

gotchi - September 28, 2007 02:37 AM (GMT)
lol yay another switchfoot thread...i made one like a few months ago but it's good to see other fans out there!! lol...i first heard of them through that 'A Walk To Remember" movie with their Dare You To Move track...loved it
i went to two of their concerts...i really like how they try to make if affordable for people to go out to their shows...i bought their concert shirts and i really liked how u cud buy a 5 song recording of their live shows at the end of their concerts...they made is so much more personal (to the fans)
i actually went to their concert 8 months ago? i loved it i made a 10 min clip but it's kinda shakey at first cuz everyone kept jumping LOL
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-Cli0Amz4s my really shakey clip from their Oh! Gravity Tour in February
Switchfoot music is music i can always go back and listen to .... :clap
mangomalte - October 1, 2007 10:52 PM (GMT)
^ cool video! :D man, i wish i could attend a switchfoot concert...
everyone in the audience knew all the lyrics. :P
and yeah, i've been a fan since quite a while back, but i actually didn't know that they were as big as they were until a year back or so. i thought they only were big among christians, i was a bit surprised to hear that a couple of my classmates listened to them. and they were surprised when i told them that switchfoot were christians. either way, it's great that they're big, because they certainly deserve it. :good
edit: woot, my 100th post. :D
yukio - October 2, 2007 03:56 PM (GMT)
yep they're awesome.
i went to their concert once here in toronto. i was RIGHT in front of them.. basically i was deaf after that. hahaha but they were sooo awesome. they sound even BETTER live haha, unlike other artists
and yep, they're christian which is so awesome, cuz they are so mainstream too... but somehow they still arent as big as some other superstar artists out there.... i think it probably is because of the fact that they're christian... that just sucks
cloudscream - October 4, 2007 02:50 AM (GMT)
Only Hope, Dare You To Move and Stars are classics.
simply the best.
mangomalte - October 4, 2007 07:01 AM (GMT)
^ he, i always think it's wrong when people say "Dare You to Move" (the title on The Beautiful Letdown) instead of "I Dare You to Move" (the title of the same song on "Learning to Breathe"). i find it kinda interesting that they released the same song under another name. or just a bit weird. great song, btw.

It's not as easy writing personal faith into lyrics.. because it greatly depends on the record company. Since, they're in mainstream now, the producers will be more fussy about what they write in their songs etc.
mangomalte
So, maybe that's why the song title changed to, "Dare You to Move" instead keeping "I" in the song because it might have been a reference to God. *Shrugs* It could be request from the record company or industry itself.
The Fray, and Relient K too. They're Christians bands in the secular music industry, not super big, but they're getting known for their music and they're still strong in their faith. :)
yukio - October 4, 2007 09:21 PM (GMT)
well its possible, but however, switchfoot just went indie, because of conflicts with their record label. if they had conflicts before, they would've left a while ago.. because knowing them, they are really strong christians and probably wouldn't listen to what other people say about them.. actually i think these christian secular bands try to make themselves seem as if they weren't christian music to get a bigger range of audience. just like evanescence they used to be christian but they strongly denounced and refused to accept that label a long time ago. but they are a more extreme case. but somehow they arent super hits possibly because people know they're christian tho they dont make it an obvious thing and they just dont want to give them a chance. tahts just wt i think
nataliejwong - October 4, 2007 10:46 PM (GMT)
I'm not too familiar with The Fray, but it seems like their record company didn't want them to write any 'religious' content in their lyrics.
Essentially, the reason why they go secular is to get a bigger fan group, but so far, it seems like Relient K is doing quite well. Even though, not ALL their songs are Christian-based now because they're partly in mainstream now, they still able to put 2 or 3 songs into their album that God-driven. They're still part of their original Christian record label, Gotee Records. Also with Capitol Records + EMI Music Group.
I have friends who listen to them who are non-Christians, and they love the band's music but still respect the band's faith in Christianity. A few of them were curious about Christianity after listening to a few of their songs too... a nice way to start a little small-talk about God.. don't you think?
Haha.
Yeah... Evanescence is another story. A few of their songs are nice.. well, you know, everyone changes, and ultimately we all choose our own path... *shrugs*

Talk about christian bands, anyone noes or heard before planetshakers?
yukio - October 5, 2007 02:00 AM (GMT)
yep i listen to some of their stuff., not particularly fond of them thoo haha
mangomalte - October 5, 2007 11:05 PM (GMT)
i've heard of them, but i haven't heard their music. the christian stuff i listen to are mostly (except switchfoot) jars of clay, sixpence none the richer, delirious?, pfr, newsboys, tait etc.
oh, btw, anyone else listening to all together separate, the band Andrew Shirley (newest member of swirtchfoot) played lead guitar in? they only released two albums, but those are great.
nataliejwong - October 6, 2007 02:12 PM (GMT)
Planet Shakers!
Yep, another member on this forum intro-ed me to their music. I like "Rain Down" song.
cloudscream - October 9, 2007 08:40 AM (GMT)
