Saiyuki is the story of four reluctant - and irreverent - anti-heroes: the monk Genjyo Sanzo (or "Genjyo"), the monkey-youkai Son Goku, the half-youkai Sha Gojyo, and the man turned youkai Cho Hakkai, dispatched by the Sanbutsushin (the Three Aspects of Buddha, who relay the orders of heaven) to India to stop the possible resurrection of the Bull-Demon-King, Gyumaoh. Along the way they are beset by (inept) assassins, bad weather, and their tragic personal pasts. Meanwhile, the villains, two unlikely confidants, Gyokumen Koushou (Gyumaoh's concubine, a youkai) and a mad scientist, Dr. Ni Jenyi (a human), continue their attempts to restore the long-dead king. These experiements, a forbidden mixture of science and magic, spawn the "Minus Wave", infecting all youkai in Shangri-La with madness, shattering the fragile peace that once existed between human and youkai.
this manga is fun...especially sanzo....his so cool and ahhh!!!handsome.. :suki
I, personally, try to stay clear of animes that stretch for too long. Usually those that run for 50 eps and above. The only exception is Bleach and Naruto cos I used to watch them with my classmates.
i've only watched a few episodes of reload and gunlock but it's pretty cool
i watched canto dub in hk when it's like 12.00am.
I have to stay the characters are quite cool. They are different form the journey to the west characters.
Like what the hell SANZO smokes and carriess a gun with hime. Great monk he is.
Hakkai is meant to be lazy and a pig but damn is he doing all the driving, thinking and fighting. That said it's a gd contrast. I like this anime but i'll understand if others hate it.
me too!!!but cant forget bout them..maybe after 20 yrs...
i have a classmate whos watching saiyuki and a fan...
