I'm going to say no. The singing forum I go to did a forum host switch just like this a couple of months ago. They weren't able to get any data back. Not even the members. Maybe Fanny knows how to do what they didn't or couldn't. Let's just hope. If not, save the name JustAnotherYUILover for me!

Unfortunately, Invisionfree doesn't have a function to export all the topics, nor the complete list of userso n the forum. So a complete backup and restore of the forum threads is probably not going to happen.

However, a user list maybe able to be salvaged by manually copy all the usernames from the Members list, but at most we can only do usernames and nothing else (no password, no email addresses, etc) because it would be extremely time consuming to manual comb through all the members for their emails. But without backup and restoring the passwords, it maybe a bit pointless. Plus, there are lots of members that are "inactive" or they are leechers anyway.

If that's the case, I really hope we don't switch... (assuming that's what the admins are considering). I feel that all these threads in YUI-Lover are very valuable!

Probably important threads will be manually copied (e.g. lyrics). Spam threads will be dumped.

Right now we just thinking of backup options. Nothing is concrete.

loads...just a little slower than YL...no big difference....
if its just for backup i can accept...but if we're moving :cry i object!

I just tried loading it again, and it took about a full minute to load completely. I think it might also be because of distance that the time is really bad? Hmm...iono.

Might I ask what the possible move is about?

I can load the page within 3 Second but... are we reeally going to move?? i'll surely wont agree... all of the YL shared the love and pain in this forum.... it's not nice to move without any logically reason...... :please

while i agree there's alot of memories here, our bandwidth and storage space are fast depleting so we're looking at forum softwares that have more storage data and such. almost every forum on the net goes through a period like this.

but nothing is concrete yet to assure everyone.

Ahh...so thats the problem. I hope there are other options for new forum places then, because I don't really like that place. If loading took that long with barely anything there, then it'll take forever to load with even more images and information.

I had no problem loading the page... I think it loaded in just 2 or 3 seconds

if we are going to move and loose some active members due to slow loading of the page then that would really be sad :please

for me too. took over a minute! :shock not good... second time i tried it had gone down to ~50 seconds. i'm in sweden btw. this site loads a lot faster for me, like 5-10 seconds.

Wow..7-ish seconds to load the second link. I tried the first link in my schools computers and it only took like...20 seconds or so. Weird.

for a lil footnote: the host server is in China, so people living in the region would be able to load faster .

The first link took WAAAAAAAAAY long to load.

The second link loaded at normal speed.

9 - 12 seconds

one thing to keep in mind is the first time you load the page, it'll be a bit slower because the page isn't cached, as the page for yui-lover.com would be. i don't mind either way...if it'll be a good change for us, go for it...because i know bandwidth is an important factor, and having the page up as close to 24/7 as possible is a big part of what makes this forum what it is...

Like Fanny said, his first link is in China. That's why it tends to load longer for people in the Western world

For My link, the server is in the U.S.

It was ok only a bit slower than usual but i did just have a virus scare and had to scan just a minute ago. So it's probably fine for me
