This beautifully moving drama is all about the 15-year-old Ikeuchi Aya who was an ordinary girl, the daughter of a family who works at a tofu shop, and a soon-to-be high schooler. However, odd things have been happening to Aya lately. She has been falling down often and walks strange. Her mother, Shioka, takes Aya to see the doctor, and he informs Shioka that Aya has spinocerebellar degeneration - a terrible disease where the cerebellum of the brain gradually deteriorates to the point where the victim cannot walk, speak, write, or eat. A cruel disease, as it does not affect the mind in the least. How will Aya react when told about her disease? And how will Aya live from now on?

I you love asian dramas specially the sad ones this drama will really touch everyone's heart!! :please

So if anyone is interested you can download the whole series :good HERE!!

Or you can preview the 1st episode :good HERE

And here a pic of the young and cute Erika Sawajiri who played as Ikeuchi Aya in 1 Litre of Tears :suki

mangomalte - August 31, 2007 04:59 PM (GMT)

I've watched only movie version...

you watched the movie version?! i've been trying to find that for a long time, but i only found the preview on youtube... :(

zenaku - September 1, 2007 01:42 AM (GMT)
loved the drama and the movie was ok. erika was good in this series i thought. better than in taiyou no uta. this and something in the center of the world were the saddest shows i've seen. the band rem....something lol, forgot had really good in the show. really added a lot to the series itself. the whole diary keeping thing made it really sad i thought.

gotchi - September 1, 2007 01:46 AM (GMT)
yea this drama was sooooooooo sad.....i cried quite a bit...the acting was really good.. the relationship within the family is so touching and amazing..

Yea I have no idea where to find the extra episode. Do any of you guys know where to find the Special Episod that they aired in April? I know that the younger sister 'Ako' or Riko Narumi kinda retells the story as she becomes a nurse in the drama.

Anyway this drama really touched my heart especially since it was based on a real story and made me reflect about life...

some people started translating the 1 liter of tears novel that the real Aya wrote: http://www.xanga.com/onelitre

oh random wiki ..seems like someone plagiarized the drama:

Alternate version of this drama

Indonesian Production House SinemArt's[2] drama, titled Buku Harian Nayla[3] (Nayla's Diary), has been accused of plagiarizing 1 Litre of Tears. The series bears some striking resemblances, like the name "Aya" being replaced with "Nayla" (Chelsea Olivia) and Moses (Ralph Glenn Alinskie) in place of Asou. The series aired in RCTI as a special Christmas series. The comparison between the two series have been discussed by the show's audience[4]. The scenario was written by Serena Luna (or sometimes called Chevyra Edenia).

Indonesian fans of 1 Litre of Tears have reported this admitted plagiarism problem to Fuji TV and the Indonesian mass media, but there has yet to be a response. What most upsets them is that RCTI failed to credit or acknowledge Fuji TV and 1 Litre of Tears, from which the story is presumed to have been adapted, and noted that "This story is fictitious: the similarities of names, characters, places, and times are purely coincidental."

Amrita TV is to remake 1 Litre of Tears.

Here. :hee The download link is somewhere at the top.

I don't know, the special episode doesn't seem too interesting to me. I skimmed through once before and it contains mostly flashbacks. Hah, but still, I'm waiting for the subs to come out.

And yes, quality acting from Erika Sawajiri.

zenaku - September 1, 2007 03:08 AM (GMT)
this is something a friend told me about this show. we all know that there was really some girl with the disease called aya and that the series is based on this girl. when the script was written, the mother of aya in real life gave advice and how it felt to be a mother of a child with terminal disease. what shocked me was that aya's boyfriend in the series never existed in real life. the boyfriend character was just a character aya's mother in real life wished aya had while going through the pain. sad stuff.

Katsu - September 1, 2007 10:07 AM (GMT)
Hmmm...the movie version...I'd take a peek on that at Crunchyroll but someone commented that the drama version is still the best so I didn't bother anymore to watch it! :sry ahehe

Indeed! this is the best drama ever! Just watching the first episode tempts you to watch the whole series! :suki

OMG =O the SPECIAL Episode!!!...Domo Arrigatou Gosaimasu Saustic-san! Your the BEST!! :good :good

Yeh your right...sad to say the subs for the SPECIAL aren't available yet for now...but I'm sure Kioku fansubs will be able to make it in no time since they already finished the timing and the editing is 80% done! Weeeee! :clap

Jill-Jênn - September 1, 2007 10:34 AM (GMT)
Did Taiyō no Uta "copy" 1 Litre of Tears?

1 litre, taiyou no uta and the other movie are made by the same ppl i thought.

Jill-Jênn - September 1, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
Even if it's the same people, Taiyō no Uta would be a copy?

zenaku - September 1, 2007 10:07 PM (GMT)
not really a copy. its different ppl, different diseases. its just that in all 3 of them, the girl always dies. just in different ways. there's no reusing storylines i think. taiyou no uta is the least sad imo. the first one, something at the center of the world movie version was to me the saddest then 1 litre series was second.

hiyori - September 3, 2007 02:40 AM (GMT)
Definitely one of the best jdrama. Inspiring movie, when you watch it it makes you value ur life more and live your life to the fullest. i recomend this movie for anyone who value their life so little and not making anything good with it.

Hillshire - September 4, 2007 06:18 AM (GMT)

(speaking as a monster)

this drama didn't make me cry one bit...

but it did make me even more in love with the little sister 成海璃子 :clap

Katsu - September 4, 2007 11:43 AM (GMT)

LOL! ahehe maybe you didn't cry Hillshire...just a teary eyes I guess!!? :hee hihi... LOL! Aya's sis! I think her attitude is kawaii! :suki hehe I'm starting to love her too as the story progresses!

anima9 - September 4, 2007 01:20 PM (GMT)

Samart - September 6, 2007 08:13 AM (GMT)
I don't know if this drama is the best, but it must be the saddest drama I have seen so far. I mean... I cried. And I was : Hey ?? I am crying ? Oh no ??? No way ??? :cry Why ??? LOL ... If you don't cry during that drama, go see your doctor.

renace - September 7, 2007 07:53 AM (GMT)

HeartYui - October 3, 2007 09:30 AM (GMT)
This is the best drama i have seen in my life so far. Its too touching, makes me cry like a little girl. Aya mother has got to be the best mum in the world...

Katsu - October 5, 2007 12:17 PM (GMT)
I really do agree! not only the mother but the whole family! They really have a good open relationship...i envy them...and the father...his really the best! XD haha i like his style...though sometimes his face looks really funny though the situation gives balance to it ahahaha

locast - October 5, 2007 11:27 PM (GMT)
this is quite similar to our Yui's mid night sun
a love story that ends in death

i cried enough these days so i'm downloading it now
thx for the veoh link

bnn - October 6, 2007 04:53 PM (GMT)
it's sad but not depressing!

aya taught us very important lessons in life

i still remember the quote from her diary

'even if i fall down, i look up and enjoy the blue sky'

well... but the real aya had a sadder life. this romance element was added as the real aya's mother requested for the story to have a romance element, like a consolation for her dear daughter.

Katsu - October 7, 2007 03:01 PM (GMT)
No probz locast! yorokonde!! :cool

yeh...what makes it more sad is the fact that "HE" does not exist in real life... :please ...hmf ...hmf anywayz theres a movie version available before the series. the story in that version might be closer to the real AYA's life story.

Katsu - October 7, 2007 03:41 PM (GMT)

oohh...im quite disappointed of the video quality of the torrent...its 630mb but still pixelize....any of you guys know where to get a better quality of the Special?

Saustic - October 12, 2007 05:07 PM (GMT)
Ehh, mine is 630 MB as well but the quality is good. To me, at least. I got mine from D-addicts, which is the same as the one you just posted, right?

By the way, where did you find the subtitle? The way the person translated the episode seems familiar...

But all in all, great special episode. Sums up the entire series nicely. Aya's father weird face expression when he's holding back his tears has always been funny, but at the same time it makes you want to cry along, especially when the soundtrack starts to play in the background.

It gets to you sometimes, heh. :sry

Katsu - October 15, 2007 09:40 AM (GMT)
I also got it from D-Addicts! the one that you posted here before ^__^V

....The subtitle? I got it from this SITE when I was Googling it! I'm really lucky to found it I even bumped my head on the computer :sry

And yeh! XD ahehe I really enjoy watching his father lol...but I hadn't watch the special till now still really busy with school stuff...well i hope i can watch it this Saturday....woohoo Sem-Break!! XD

locast - November 8, 2007 08:12 AM (GMT)
