Title: Need help on TOKYO strumming.

viettai - August 28, 2007 09:23 PM (GMT)
Can anyone help me with the strumming after the intro?

This is how I play it:

G, down down downup

D, down down downup

Am, down up down downup

Is the strumming for Am right or is it down down down downup.

I also searched the forums on the strumming pattern for TOKYO and there were videos on how to strum but the links have expired. Could anyone be kind enough to make a sample video on how to strum or re-upload the old ones.

Thanks in advanced.

There are threads similar to yours. Around 3 months-4 months to way back. So, it's not your fault you couldn't find it.
Hope these help:

Hope those threads will help you, viettai.

But if you want a "fresh" opinion, the Am should be "down down down downup" because you always want to strum according to the beat count, which in this case is 4-downs (which also implies 4-ups as well) per measure (or chord).

What you've been doing with G and D is "down ---- down downup" (the ---- means the space takes up a beat count but it is not strummed, and the quick downup is counted within one beat).

So, apply that to the Am and filling the blank, it should be "down down down downup". Some people (and even YUI sometimes) also play the G and D and the rest of the verses with this same strumming pattern.
