Title: Got my first guitar!!!
Description: please help...
cLam - June 4, 2007 01:47 AM (GMT)
So I went to that sale i mentioned in another post... and came home with my first guitar -- Yamaha F310. :D
I must have spent at least 2-3 hours there, trying out all the other guitars (yes,,, even the ones i couldn't afford :P) with the only two chords that i knew -- G major and C major
Anyways, the sales person got me a new one that was already tuned and packaged nicely in a box -- and thus i didn't bother opening it up to check it (yes... stupid me).
I was just wondering whether the patterning of the wood would make any difference -- there are two spots on the guitar that have a weird pattern (see pictures below)

Congrats on your new guitar! I hope you enjoy the guitar as much as I do with my new guitar. Haha.
Oh. Don't worry about those irregular lines on your top, my guitar also has a few of those. The lines are not exactly straight.. I believe acoustic guitarists call it 'bear claw' marks.. or something like that. It shouldn't affect the sound. Just make sure it isn't a bump or a dent on the wood, because that would make a difference.
Have you given your guitar a name yet!? Just curious... haha.

Anything that is of value to a person and he/she considers it his/her baby, the do usually name it.
Mine's a conjoined twin, Simon & Patrick. (... ok, yeah I know it's lame and getting kind old now. I haven't really named mine actually.)
Congrats cLam on the guitar. I probably would have gotten that same guitar if I didn't have a friend to borrow a guitar to practice before buying one.
C'mon cLam. You've gotta come out to an outing with us. Natalie and Ryan (perhaps a little bit myself as well) can teach you about the guitar.

The next outing is still undecided yet. But right now, we are looking at either Monday July 2 or Sunday July 8. Check our Outing thread:
http://z14.invisionfree.com/YUI_Lover/inde...post&p=10267860The discussion of the next outing starts with
Orange Toast - Posted: May 28 2007, 11:46 PMAnd we'll also do a special outing on Monday July 16 with Brad coming all the way from Texas. For those that can make it we can meet in the morning or afternoon. If not, at least try to make it for the dinner that night. That would be awesome.

theyre speed marks they make the guitar play faster *____* :guitar
JustAnotherYUILover - June 4, 2007 08:01 PM (GMT)
Grats on the guitar. Wow I envy you. You have so much pros willing to help you. Oh ya I was just wondering, has there been any YL outings at all in any part of the US that I don't know of? :huhuhu
s0l1dsn8k3 - June 4, 2007 08:42 PM (GMT)
I don't think so. Many of the U.S. members are spread all over the country so it's difficult to have an outing.
JustAnotherYUILover - June 4, 2007 08:53 PM (GMT)
Yeah Snake that's so true. Hopefully there will be.

Kouji - June 5, 2007 12:32 AM (GMT)
hehe, nice guitar you have there! and don't worry about the irregular lines. They don't affect the sound in anyway.
And good luck in your guitar learning!

s0l1dsn8k3 - June 5, 2007 03:22 AM (GMT)
That's good, cLam. It's normal. So keep up the practicing! Hopefully you'll be able to come out to one of our outings.

I name pretty much all of my guitars - although it makes it a bit harder when I have to let them go :(

hey cLam congrats!
in the future when you're buying another guitar (and if you don't feel confident in your playing yet) make sure you ask the store people to play something for you - that way you can make sure everything looks right and if something sounds wrong you can have them fix it for you immediately
+ make sure you name your guitar since it kind of builds a stronger bond between you two (although it may seem a little freaky at first)
have fun and don't stop practicing!
