The cosmetic condition of the guitar is generally an important factor when you're looking to resell. In today's market, the looks of the guitar are just as much of a priority as the sound of the guitar. It will often feel that you are being shortchanged by a dealer as well because they will only give you a certain percentage of what they would sell your guitar for at their store (It's still a business after all). If you really want to get the most money out of it, you're probably better off selling your guitar locally so that you get 100% of what you sell it for. Ask within your group of friends, maybe someone is interested in taking up the guitar and you can pass your instrument on to them. That way, you'll know it's in good hands and that they will enjoy the instrument as much as you once did :)
