Interesting... too bad I don't drive.

Well, I hope you get your guitar then! Try out a few Taylors when you're there... you might like them...

I'm free after 3:30. I'm gonna go and get some guitar accessories I didn't get last time (tuner, shoulder strap, etc).

What time are you planning to go cLam?

Long and McQuade also has an event happening today - Free Setup Day, which I play on going to. Essentially you bring your guitar in to any store, buy a set of strings and you'll receive a basic setup to your guitar. Depending on when you go, you could pick your guitar up on the same day, which is why I intend to be there early :)

Sophie, first of all welcome to the forum.

It really depends on your budget. I've been to the L & McQ in Markham probably 5-7 trips before I bought my guitar. I've tried almost every acoustic guitars they have hanging in the room, even the expensive ones.

They have many choices of guitars, from the lower priced Yamahas, to $2000+ Taylors. Since you said you're still somewhat a newbie, then probably a Yamaha.

Even though I'm a newbie too, but I didn't want to go cheap. So I went for the Canadian brand Simon & Patrick. Their guitars may not "look" as good, but they sound pretty nice too. Art & Lutherie is a sister brand to S & P and they are priced lower like the Yamahas. You can check those out.

Btw, check our Toronto outing thread. Hope you can come out an join us for our next outing!

s0l1dsn8k3, THanks for the advice! lol. My dad shocked me today and we finally went to Long and MacQuade. I got myself a Classic Design Fender, CD-60. >.< Hope that it wasn't a bad choice. *crosses fingers* It comes in a hard case AND it was $100 less than what I'd expected. Choo ureshii!!

Anyhow, I'd love to come out and you guys for your next outing! Going to check out the thread right now!!!!

Nice .. YUI's brand. Looks like a good budget guitar to start with. And since it comes with a hard case, that's a real bonus. Mine cost more and it only comes with a soft padded gig bag.

Hope to see you with your guitar at an outing soon.
