Title: Just a little question
Description: original key/capo/play

e-ma. - May 9, 2007 09:06 AM (GMT)
Hi there, I couldn't think of a good title because the question is... what does this mean?

I was looking for chords for both YUI and Keita Tachibana.... I came across two of them and they're both kinda different....

At the top of the thing is has stuff like this:

Tachibana Keita - Michishirube

Original Key : D♭
Capo : 1
Play : C

YUI - It's Happy Line

Original Key : G
Capo : 0
Play : G

My question is..... what does that mean? The "Original Key" and "Play" bit mainly... coz I know the capo thing.

Thanks in advance :biggrin

(oh yeh the site I got these from was http://music.j-total.net/

Original key means the original key of the song.
But that version of chord is playing a C key which is differnt from the original song. Meaning it won't be in the same key as the original.

Oh so is it... well with "michishirube" anyway... because of the capo... it'll make the C sound like a D♭ ? Or the other way around? O_o i'm kinda confused still, sorry ^^" thanks for helping btw

however... if you have a capo on the first fret, with will bring up all the strings by one semitone, it will end up in Db, juz like the original song.

EDIT: (haha took me so long to type..) yup yup...

I see, so when playing that song.... how do you play the fret with the capo on it? Or do you move every chord up one fret except the F one? (I feel so dumb T_T sorry)

edit...

maybe it would make more sense once i watch some performances of it x_x

Putting a capo on 1st fret will ease the playing cuz u only have to play C instead of Db. But it will still sound like Db.

You don't have to shift anything. Just play the chords stated like you didn't put on the capo... If you know what i mean.

:o it makes sense now! Thank you so much! So just say.... the C chord for example, I'd only have to use two fingers instead of three? (I hope I get it ^^")

No...
You still play the normal C chord... If you do that what u just said then will go out of key cuz u'll be getting a different chord. You want a Db sound.

Just play the chord normally without anything changed.

O....K..... I thought the capo holds the string down... meaning you don't have to hold the first one down for the C chord ... well, thanks a lot for your help (you know more than I do, so I'm not questioning you in any way ^^") I will try it... as soon as I get my damn guitar fixed x_X thanks so much ^^~

You still didn't get it.....
It so hard to explain this here :huhuhu

|--*--|-----|-----|-----|
|--*--|--x--|-----|-----|
|--*--|-----|-----|-----|
|--*--|-----|--x--|-----|
|--*--|-----|-----|--x--|

1stfret

**** means capo-ed
See how you're still pressing the C chord shape? But this is actually a Db because of the capo raising the strings by half a step.

I'm sorry I'm so dumb T_T

o.o" but that's what I meant the first time when I asked if you move the chords up one... ^^" do you do that with all of them?

tsunvun86 - May 9, 2007 12:25 PM (GMT)
Oh sorry if I misunderstood. I thought moving the key.. hehe

Yes... Just play what ever chord is stated as it is with the capo on.

It's alright, I really only just decided to start playing again (after 129839 years) only to realise my string was broken o.o so i honestly know nothing.

So just ONE more question

ok you're probably just about ready to smash me but...............

You know how you said move it up one? What about the F chord? Is that one left the same? You just... have the capo in place of your first finger?

PM me or something.
