Title: spider-man 3 hype

gotchi - May 7, 2007 11:02 PM (GMT)
so i watched Spiderman 3 in IMAX on opening day.....it was, unfortunately...a bit of a letdown for me...

I wouldn't say i wasn't hyped up for it.....i preordered tickets, wore my spiderman tshirt, watched spiderman2 off my psp as i lined up 4 hrs before the movie...i was the first person in line..and the ONLY person there..*how sad*....i BOUGHT the ps3 spiderman collector's edition game on the same day....changed my wallpapers and cellphone background and set my ringtone (old school spiderman theme song)...ooo modified my DS lite to a spiderman theme......yea i guess i went a bit overboard lol...(yea k i sound like a hard core geek but i'm not haha errrm...)

out of all the comic-book superhero movies...Spiderman still remains to be my ultimate favorite...and the best! Spiderman 2 is probably the best Spiderman movie out of the 3.... SP2 > 1 > 3....the first one was a bit better than the 3rd...i just loved how the first movie established spiderman's role and who he was..and how the 2nd one built on that with a mix of problems that Spiderman would have to face...the choices, his destiny, and the sacrifices he'd have to make....and it's seemed liek spiderman 3 played on these things again which i found kinda repetitious at times but i guess it's always an internal struggle for spidey and those close to him...or well these things apply to everyone at any time so....meh still baaah i wanted so much more!

it felt like the ingredients were there for a good movie but it just didnt hold together....there were a lot of sub plots and lots of characters...they tried..i wouldn't say it was HORRIBLE...it's still one of the better superhero movies out there (...compared to i.e. XMEN 3..that was jsut bleeeeeh...)...

Venom's appearance...i think everyone was very excited for it and it was short lived..though it seems like he'll be back for another round (possible sp4? lol i think so!)...i loved the effects and the costume for venom/eddie brock

and um...the movie was SOO CHEESEY ....and over the top at times...

i wanted spiderman 3 to surpass that 3rd sequel trilogy slump that other movies had...but it failed me

anyone else watch spiderman yet? did you like it? share u opinions :D

possible spoilers! you've been warned! lol

yeah i agree it was good but i didn't like it. I thought they tried too hard making it more artistic with fancy camera work and other things which made me well dissapointed.

I just watched it last night on IMAX also.

I didn't read the comics (though I do know the characters a little bit) so my opinion is purely about the movie. As an action movie, it was good. As for story, if you compare to SM2, it is not as good because, in my opinion, too many villains and sub plots in the movie. It kind of looses the focus because it has to jump between them.

Having said that, as long as they didn't screw it up completely, it is still a good movie for everyone.

And btw, gotchi, you really buy into the Spider-Man stuff.

Yup I watched it on opening day too. Venom "dies". Bah! the fights were pretty amazing, but short. He didnt' get enough screen time, srsly and he's was supposed to be much more built than that little wimp. Sand Man was aight, but like the whole sand face thing was like...the mummy.

It was too centered around MJ's and Peter's "relationship" i'm not paying to watch a soap opera. I wanna see someone die, get severely injured and repeat.

I hope Kirsten Dunst does not, I repeat DOES not play MJ at the next movie. Too ginger and un-hot to be an MJ. But Yah, next movie - better kick ass and involve The Lizard, cuz they already included him.

/sniff @ Harry's Death
/freak out @ Norman's freaking big ass picture

haha yea i've loved spiderman ever since the animated series in the early 90s...but then it got all weird when he went to space and had some web-cape thing ...but that season got cut off FOX kids eventually cuz of the pokemon hype...haha oh childhood memories...

James Franco (Harry) is like the only reason some of my friends would go watch spiderman LOL...

yvonneleung - May 9, 2007 10:05 AM (GMT)
lolz snake!

anyway. i watched the movie..wasn't as good as i thought. i think there wasn't a lot of spiderman stuff. instead there is like stuff about him dancing on the street..wth?!?. and i don't like how he became "evil"...sorta weird..

and have u realized something guys? spiderman 1 and 2 both ends with spiderman swinging around the buildings. the 3rd, ends with him and MJ hugging...kinda destroyed how it used to be. ohwells...

gotchi - May 9, 2007 10:19 AM (GMT)
oo yea! cool i didnt pick that up...i remember sp2 ending with like MJ looking off at the doorstep in his apartment

i thought the continuation from the end of sp2 and the beginning of sp3 was pretty good..time-line wise...like there was a bit of a break but it felt like spiderman 2 didnt happen too long before spiderman 3 happend...ughh i duno if i'm making any sense i'm sleeeeeppy...lol

There should be a gap between 2 and 3. In 3, Peter is about to propose, while at the end of 2, they just got together. I don't think he would immediately propose after getting together.

Wah i wanna watch it.
Now in theater.
But i prefer to buy the DVD and watch it home.
hehehe

my opinions on the movie:

i kinda agree it was abit hyped up. But taking the theme (Revenge) in mind, i guess it was what the movie was about.

Character development was very good, I thought McGuire was absolutely superb when he was 'badass'. Really gave off the vibes. He and Harry taunting each other when they fought in his apartment was swell.

Eddie Brock though, a big disappointment. His voice was abit mild, I expected him to be more gruff. Little screentime for him, didnt exactly show his deep hatred for Peter like in the comics. And as for venom.. i give it a big WTF.

Nowhere near the heinous tongue circling black villian. When Venom spoke, tt was just like an effect on Eddie Brock's voice. Just some screams but nowhere the REAL venom. I honestly think Sam Reilly should have taken into account, the hardcore comic bookfans when they all went gaga over venom in the trailer.

So perharps we can see more when he hopefully returns in Spiderman 4.

Mary Jane... erm.. wasn't that bad. Kirsten Dunst should have tried a lil harder when she notices the change in Peter. It wasn't bad acting from her, though it was nowhere near a capable performance.

Sandman was disappointing. Right after he gets washed away by Black Spidey, that was it. We only see him the emotion side of him only TWICE in the movie and that was it. His fight with Black Spidey was short, to me, a real lowdown.

To give credit, we see *spoilers* spidey and harry vs venom and sandman in the end. Classic tag team battles if you would put it. That was one of the best points of the movie.

So in short, Spiderman 3 definitely ranks better than other comic book movies, but I'm hopeful its just a bench setter to Spiderman 4. otherwise, it will be a big big letdown.

This movie was more or less mostly about Peter Parker's character development. The motif of revenge echoed soundly through the protagonist and also the antagonist, throwing both into the madness of obsession and blinded judgment. The look in Peter's eyes as the weight of his betrayal towards MJ brought forth the glimmer of hope in the mass of insanity that was consuming him. That was his defining moment when Peter showed his strength as a human being rather than Spiderman.

Some where consumed by revenge (Venom) and some fought against it (Peter and Harry).

hmm i finally watched it haha XD
i thought it was pretty good...though i still like the first two a bit better
this one was..rly emotional =P! i didnt rly like the beginning how it was so random...like it would jump to the sandman,,,, thn to spiderman...thn to venom....thn to harry...
and i thought the fighting and stuff wasnt as good as the second movie...venom was a bit..ehh ..kinda missing something
but overall i liked it XD haha cuz it was so deep ...and i liked how the movie was based on the theme "choice" how the sandman had a choice...and how peter had a choice...how harry chooses to help peter out...yeahh

i saw spidey3 about a week ago. i was pretty good IMO...the dancing parts were hilarious. i only didn't like that it was like 2 and a half hours long.
