Title: TORONTO -YUI Lover- outings
Description: future plans

Orange Toast - May 3, 2007 03:47 AM (GMT)
As the topic says...

So far the only ideas I can think of are:
- Picnic/BBQ + Guitar playing @ park (Sunnybrook. Milliken..ect)
- Movie? Dinner? Sushi (all-you-can-eat)?
- Karaoke
- Clubbing/Drinking? (Republik...what other good clubs are there)

nataliejwong - May 3, 2007 04:30 AM (GMT)
Clubbing? Ah.. so not my thing.. are you into clubbing, Orange Toast?

I'm up for picnic / bbq / GUITARING / sushi or movie outing!

s0l1dsn8k3 - May 3, 2007 04:49 AM (GMT)
Karaoke? The only Karaoke place that has some more Japanese songs, specifically YUI songs, is RQ (Commerce Gate @ Leslie/Hwy 7). It has the singles title tracks up to Good-bye Days. I was there couple weeks ago for a friend's bday but I had to leave early so I didn't sing.

Focus (Time Squre @ Leslie/Hwy 7) also has a few YUI songs but it was last year so I don't remember what songs they had. But I'm pretty sure, at the time, it had LIFE.

What I want to find is a karaoke operated by Japanese with more J-Music selections, since that's what I listen to mostly nowadays.

topic pinned~

s0l1dsn8k3 - May 3, 2007 03:59 PM (GMT)
^ Thanks, Fanny.

nataliejwong - May 3, 2007 09:39 PM (GMT)
Ahhh... Karaoke!!? Haha, I don't like singing through a mic... scary. I wonder if we can bring our guitars to karaoke places...

Thanks for pinning the thread up, Fanny. :wink

s0l1dsn8k3 - May 3, 2007 09:54 PM (GMT)
^ I don't know exactly, but I don't see why we can't bring guitars in. Unless they are afraid we will use the guitars as weapon and destroy their equipment.

Karaoke would give you some practice singing the songs. You don't have to use the mic if you don't want to, if you think your voice is good enough.

Orange Toast - May 3, 2007 10:14 PM (GMT)
lol forget about Karaoke...but we must do the picnic and sushi thing. For the picnic we could wait till June or July when it gets hotter and the people are finished school. For the sushi let's try something at the end of May or early June on a Fri or Sat.

haha yeah im sorta into Clubbing, since my friends always force me to come along. Dont really dance too often though, i'd rather just sit at the bar drinking and talking.

nataliejwong - May 4, 2007 03:52 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I prefer picnic! And it would be nice if we can gather all of Toronto YUI members to join in too.. like Orange Toast said.

I'm up for sushi! Set the dates, and I'll do my best to attend it.

NOTE: I wonder if the other Toronto members know about this thread? Since it's posted as a stickie now, they probably can't see it right away. We should PM all the Toronto members to let them know about this thread.

s0l1dsn8k3 - May 4, 2007 04:06 AM (GMT)
OT - No offense, but you didn't look like the type that likes to go clubbing.

Ok, so now the choices have narrowed down to Picnic or Sushi Dinner (or perhaps Sushi Picnic).

We need some input from the rest of the guys/girls and see which one they prefer, where, and when.

End of May sounds good.

Next time when we come out, I'll bring the laptop again and show you guys some of the pics I took in Japan last time and tease all of you. :biggrin

nataliejwong - May 4, 2007 04:26 AM (GMT)
We could still do both. Sushi (May/June) and a Picnic (July/August).

Orange Toast - May 5, 2007 06:06 AM (GMT)
*bump* made the title a little bit more eye catching.

Ok how about we plan the sushi thing on Sunday, May 20th. It's a long weekend and everything, so yeah....
Suggestions on location are welcome. I only know of 3 places:
- 1st at Pmall (last time I went; there was a time limit of 2hrs and they kicked us out when the time was up :( )
- 2nd at Commerce Gate (kinda small, think it was triangular shaped...*shrug*)
- 3rd at Warden & McNicoll, just south of Mary Ward High School near these condos. But my friend said that place might of changed to some other type of resturant.

Long weekend? Would some of them be busy with other things like going on a trip/cottage?

Sushi place at PMall? I don't remember PMall having one. Is it outside?

Don't know which one this is since I don't go there much. Although the karaoke place, RQ, at Commerce Gate has some YUI songs for you to sing.

I think I know which one you're talking about. It's pretty small I think. There's also a maid cafe there too. I haven't been to the maid cafe but a friend of mine said the "maids" are average. :biggrin

pong87 - May 5, 2007 07:34 AM (GMT)
Yea, i haven't gone to a club before...i don't plan on going to one either for the time being. Just that it doesn't seem all that interesting to me from what i hear from other people. If i want my booze, i'll either go to a bar or buy it from the liquor store and drink at someone's house lol. So much cheaper.... Anywho, dinner sounds like a good idea

I've been to the Maid cafe the 2nd day it opened. I guess the maids are average, but thats not the problem. It took about an hour and a half for our food to arrive. Everyone in the restaurant was complaining about the poor efficiency of the kitchen, because everyone else was waiting for at least an hour to get something. But perhaps it was due to the fact that the restaurant just opened and they were inexperienced. I mean the restaurant is still there, so i guess they must be improving. Anyway, go to Japan to experience a true maid cafe lol.

I'm still up for sushi... anyone else? ;)

There's 'Wasabi' (all you can eat jap) behind Starwalk Buffet on Silver Star / Steeles area. The plaza opposite of Market Village (the other side).

There's a Wasabi there? I didn't know that. I know there is a Wasabi in the plaza west of Time Square. I've been to that one but the buffet there wasn't very good.

nataliejwong - May 9, 2007 07:35 PM (GMT)
Yep. I usually go there with my friends and family. Actually, it's right beside Star Walk! Sorry. Haha. It's at the corner of the plaza.

s0l1dsn8k3 - May 9, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
We haven't really decided on a date either. Some of the others haven't replied so we have no idea what dates are good for them.

Is May 20th a good day? It is a long weekend so would the rest of you be available that weekend?

Orange Toast - May 9, 2007 08:50 PM (GMT)
So im guessing us 4 are good for May 20th? I looked at the chinese paper and found other all-you-can-eat sushi places, but they all cost around $20 on weekends :(

s0l1dsn8k3 - May 9, 2007 09:15 PM (GMT)
Weekends are always a few dollars more than weekdays. There used to be one at Metro Square (Warden & Steeles) that I would recommend, but they changed name/owner and now the fish there aren't as fresh.

nataliejwong - May 9, 2007 11:40 PM (GMT)
I can eat on a weeknight. Depends which day and time. It'll be cheaper then. I think the others don't konw about this thread yet... we should PM them.

Orange Toast - May 10, 2007 06:04 AM (GMT)
hrm weeknights...ok it cant be on a Monday cuz of Heroes/24 <3<3. Thursday has The Office and Smallville and I dont wanna miss those. Guess that leaves Tues or Wed, assuming the price on Fri night is considered a "weekend" price.

The other people -should- know about this thread by now. Maybe my pics from last time scared them away? /cries

s0l1dsn8k3 - May 10, 2007 05:06 PM (GMT)
^ There's this thing call a VCR. Plus you can practically download the shows also. That's what I have done when I'm too busy to watch them.

Friday is considered weekend pricing, but I can't make Friday nights anyway because I have ball hockey. By the time I finish hockey and change, it'll be at least 9:30.

Weeknights may not be as good for Frozen because he's in Mississauga.

Where are you, Frozen, pong, Panukeku? And how 'bout iron_turkey, yume, and others?

FrozenNhiem - May 12, 2007 01:47 AM (GMT)
^ Snake- Congrats on your 1000th post ^_^!! (From Ly)
yah and i have summer classes and double work shifts at nites so thats not good. i can do mondays tho...

s0l1dsn8k3 - May 12, 2007 05:49 AM (GMT)
Oooh ... didn't even noticed that I have reached the 1000-posts mark. Thanks Ly.

Frozen, how about the weekends? And how about the long weekend date that we've suggested?

FrozenNhiem - May 12, 2007 09:10 PM (GMT)
i think i can make it then... saterdays im busy till like 1-ish

s0l1dsn8k3 - May 12, 2007 10:40 PM (GMT)
I usually have work on Saturdays until 2pm, but when I get back, it'll be more like 3-3:30. But during that long weekend, I don't need to work on Saturday, so I'm good for Sat, Sun, and Monday.

Ok ... pong, Panukeku, and others?

We need some more communications here, or otherwise, we'll be stuck.

c.o.k.a. - May 14, 2007 07:20 AM (GMT)

s0l1dsn8k3 - May 14, 2007 03:34 PM (GMT)

nataliejwong - May 15, 2007 01:30 AM (GMT)
Sushi on May 20th. I should be okay. Just need a ride, if that's okay.

s0l1dsn8k3 - May 15, 2007 02:59 AM (GMT)
I should be good for May 20 also. I can give rides to those who have none.

Is it just gonna be dinner? anything else like guitaring?

EDIT: Since I've just joined Facebook and see that there are a number of Torontonians in the YUI groups, should we invite them?

Orange Toast - May 15, 2007 06:15 AM (GMT)
Guitaring - You can organize that yourself, but it's not a bad idea. Meeting up prior to the dinner is a lot better than later in the day.

Facebook - uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.........

nataliejwong - May 15, 2007 01:36 PM (GMT)
Guitaring before dinner sounds good to me.

Yeah, I think there's lots of Toronto members on the Facebook page, just that they don't visit this forum as often as they should. Haha. Facebook is addictive.

s0l1dsn8k3 - May 15, 2007 03:17 PM (GMT)
It looks to be a sunny day on Sun-day ... um, right.

Anyway, if it is indeed sunny, I will have softball practice ... probably from 2-5pm. I'll need to go home for a shower first, otherwise I'll smell pretty bad (even though I don't really sweat that much).

So regarding asking on facebook? Is that a yes or no?

FrozenNhiem - May 15, 2007 04:34 PM (GMT)
ahh sry everyone i cant make it...im working the long weekend -__- selling fireworks

s0l1dsn8k3 - May 15, 2007 05:02 PM (GMT)
^ Selling fireworks? Man, I remember the days when I sold fireworks with my parents.
