Title: How do you read tabs?

I was looking at some tabs and stuff and i was wondering what is this ( or how do you read this? )
I remember you
Intro: Cadd9 Dadd9 D (x2)
Cadd9 Dadd9 G Em7
Kaze wa mou tsumetai keredo

Natsukashii sora no nioi ga shita nda

But there's other tabs 've seen like..

And on forth. ^ These tabs i'm more interested in learning how to read.

hmm... well this isn't really considered tablature (tabs)... these are just the chords for the song..
but usually, when you see stuff like the one you posted, they SHOULD have the chord chart right on the top for the chords that they posted...for these kinds, the chords are positioned above the lyrics that it's in sync with... :thumbsup:
personally, i prefer the real tablature, like this one..

this is what an "A major chord" looks like on a tab...basically, all it is is the neck of the guitar tilted on it's left...the dashed lines you see are the strings (from top high E to bottom low E) and the numbers indicate which fret your fingers are supposed to be placed on...
the example is 2, so your fingers would be on the 2nd fret...if it shows a 3, your finger would go on the 3rd fret and so on and so fourth...

For chords I recommend
http://chordfind.com/It's a great site with pretty much every guitar chord you'll ever need. As for tabs..........
Tabs just tell you which fret to play on each string.
E---3----------------------
B---0----------------------
G---0----------------------
D---0----------------------
A---2----------------------
E---3----------------------
Thats a tab for a G major chord so you play the third fret on the high E string, open string for the B, G and D string, 2nd fret on the A string and 3 in the low E string.
Fairly straight forward once you get the hang of it.

Thats the intro for LIFE, so the 4/6 means you slide up the string from the 4th to the 6th fret, then change string to the G and play the 6th fret and then 4th etc.

So the E---3 would that be a G in this picture? Is it the 3rd note under E on E string? And A---2 would be A string 2nd note under A which is B?

So then am i holding all of these strings with my left hand and am strumming with my right? (im right handed) ??I only have 5 fingers.
Also how do you find out the strumming patterns?

You press onto the stated frets on corresponding strings. You don't have to press all 6 string for an open G. The 0s mean you don't have to press it but you have to play it.
Strumming patterns often come by feel. You have to feel the tempo of the song. If not... try to spot the strumming by-ear.

So you wouldn't need to press on the 0s but how would you play it? By strumming on that string or..?

For a G open string chord, you strum all 6 strings. So press according to the diagram, and strum all 6 strings. Yes you wouldn't need to press the ones marked 0 but you strum them together at once with the other strings.

first, yes it is read horizontally (left - right)
and you wouldn't really strum in this tab... its more of a picking motion where you only one string at a time other than on the parts where you play the sixth and fifth string at the same time...
in this, you'd play the 7th fret on the sixth string and the open fifth string at the same time, then you'd play g, e, b, g all as open strings by them selves, then the rest is basically you reading what to do

also i checked out the tab and at the next part that looks like this:

you would strum it. all you have to do is move on one string... other than the occasional 12 on the fifth string...
oh and also, this song needs to have the right tuning...
you gotta drop the low E to D
raise the G to an A
and drop the B down to an A...
if you ask me, i think you found a messed up tab cuz you gotta tune your guitar funny (G up to A, B down to A?? thats the SAME NOTE)
i don't know... if you're good at changing the tab so that you can have natural tuning other than the dropped D, then go with that... otherwise find another tab, or get another guitar to stay at this awkward tuning....
(i didn't know you had to tune until i read the tab... so when i said G open and B open earlier... it should be A and A.... but thats just confusing.....)

Hmm... this actually looks like a fret diagram...
What I think is.... Xs are the frets you need to be pressing.. And 0s are strings that you shouldn't be playing. And empty unmarked strings just means play it open....
That's my guess, but it seems logical since that's how you play C and G.
