Merry・Go・Round

This song is...amazing. I'm glad it got to be the first song in the album. The chorus rocks: 'Namida no Merry-Go-Round...I'm just a baby...' Beautiful song. I can't wait to see some live performances! Gin Rating: 5/5

Ready to Love

Ready to Love is a departure from YUI's normal style, but she doesn't flop on it one bit. The electric guitar mix is amazingly addictive, and her voice fits in perfectly with the song. Great song. Gin Rating: 5/5

Swing of Lie

Swing of lie is much higher than both Merry-Go-Round or Ready to Love. As such, it's not my most favorite song of the album, but it's quite worthy. And it didn't disappoint me like I thought it would. Great song. Gin Rating: 4/5

Blue Wind

YUI brings out Hawaii in this song. ^_^ It follows more of YUI's acoustic style than any of the other song. It's a nice break from fast paced Swing of Life or slow, hard Ready to Love: not too slow, not too slow, and very relaxing. Gin Rating: 4.5/5

I Can't Say

Here YUI returns to the rock style the album experiments with it, and here we have another winner. This has quite an addictive tune, and YUI's voice blends with the instruments. I've always been amazed by how much YUI's voice sounds...incredibly guitar-ish. ^_^ It's like her voice and guitar fit perfectly. I can't really express it into words very well, but I can't say is yet another classic YUI song. Gin Rating: 5/5

Simply White

This is a relaxing song like Blue Wind. It's not addictive, but it's a great breather, and something you can just coast along to. In that the song holds its own jewel. Sometimes not standing out is the best kind of standing out, if you know what I mean. Gin Rating: 4.5/5

Just My Way

YUI's big foray into hard rock. She scores big in this song. The tune is incredibly addictive, yet its not head-pounding or depressing. Neither are the lyrics. The song grabs you and doesn't let you go. Just My Way is a great title, too. YUI takes on rock Just Her Way. ^_^ Rating: 5/5

Spiral & Escape

This is a strange song, the strangest in the album. I haven't formed my final opinion on this song, but the tune is different, yet fun at the same time. Very experimental, yet not a botch-up. I love seeing this experimentation in YUI, seeing her branch out from her normal range. Gin Rating: 4/5

Wonderful album! I love seeing YUI branch out and experiment so much. She has real talent. And her assistant composers and arrangers do a GREAT job. We've got a winning team here, with YUI-san at the front. If YUI continues to create great music such as this, she has a great future ahead of her.

its really hard to choose which is my most favourite non single track in the album ... but i chose simply white cos thats the one i listend to the most now ... but i really like merry go round, blue wind, swing of lie, i cant say, and ready to love the most ...

I like Ready to Love a lot. I've listened to it many times now, and I think it's really catchy. But Swing of Lie is really great too...ahh, it's so hard to choose!

Favorite : Ready to love, blue wind, I can't say, and Merry Go Round.
Ready to love is the best in my opinion. Some other ones are wierd and i personally don't think YUI's voice fit too good. I don't like the style in Just my way, and Spiral & Escape is ok wierd. At first i didn't really like the chorus in Swing of lie, but i'm slowly getting used to it, soon i'll like it XD. Over all 9/10 score! great album.

My favourite right now is "Blue Wind." It gives me a nostalgic Sunday afternoon kind of feeling. Very relaxing and a little bluesy (I think there are m7 chords in it). I particularly like the part around the 3-minute mark where everything stops except the guitar strums, and also the second verse where the backing vocal track whispers the lyrics. I thought it was neat to end the song with an instrumental.

"Merry Go Round" is my second favourite. I really like the intro and verses. I actually initially thought the chorus wasn't as interesting as the rest of the song, but now I appreciate it the way it is. Extremely catchy and rock out-able.

"Swing of lie" is very strong, although I personally feel that the transitions between soft and loud/verse and chorus could have been smoother, as they seem kind of separate from each other. Other than that, a really pretty song. The strings in the chorus were very effective, and once again, ending with the guitar solo was cool.

I can't help but think the choruses of "Ready To Love" and "I Can't Say" sound a bit similar. That is, I like both of them, but I think they sound somewhat more generic (eg. the chorus of "RTL" uses an Em C G D chord progression, which is used in many songs).

I was very impressed with "Just My Way." Based on the clip of the chorus, I thought it sounded a bit too '80s for my taste at first, but now after hearing the entire song, I see how it fits with the rest of the song. Awesome verses. This song really shows off YUI's vocal strength. I really like the parts where she sounds angry - so cute!

"Spiral & Escape" is interesting. Very cool and catchy. I especially like the "Zutto matte ita" part, and also the pause with the bass at 1:37 - that was so clever! I'm not sure why, but I really want to see her perform this live.

The song I like least on the album is "Simply White." I think it's the most poppy, and for some reason the chorus reminds me of a Two-Mix song. (not sure which... weird?)

Overall, awesome album! YUI sounds great and the songs sound distinct and different enough to keep the album interesting all the way through. As said by others, it's nice to see her try out so many different musical styles. I think the lyrics flow very nicely with the music in pretty much every song (eg. she doesn't try to cram too many syllables into one line). This one's gonna be in my cd player for a long time to come. B)

If we're talking about the best song in the album... I'd say it's either Merry Go Round or Ready To Love... Listening to the preview chorus of Ready To Love didn't give me a very good impression in that song but after listening how the opening of the song blend with the chorus and go on really surprises how good it can be. The starting style is something different and kinda a mixture of Jpop and Western Pop (eg. Avril Lavigne style). Merry Go Round... I guess I listen too much of it before listening to the rest of the album therefore comparing it to the rest doesn't leave as much impression as when I had the first grasp of Merry Go Round. Both songs are really good but I'll go for Ready To Love as best song for the album.

The rest of the album is very good with a good mixture of YUI's normal style song and pop rock song. Spiral and escape... I can't say much bout it but I really wanted to know the meaning of the song as I can't really relate what spiral and escape have in common... Overall album I will give it a 9.5/10 Great debut album..

Ready to love
Don't know you guys realise or not, YUI never wrote any actual 'love song' before (about a 'he' ones), this one might be the closest one, however this song was not written by her, she only refined it. But then her voice sounded soooo sweet as if she's in love or something in this song, especially when she sang this part:

"I just want to be there for you, always.
I love everything about you!
Together, we'll smash this lonely town." (Translated by Gin :lol: )

:wub: Ok i sounded like a les now......agreed with what ZiN and Gin said, the preview didnt make a good impression but the whole song is really great, mixed together well and extremely addictive. :D Wanna see YUI perform ths song~

As for the others, i like the fast songs more (just my way rocks hard), the least memorable is 'simple white' , i always forget to write this everytime i write the tracklist (I'm bored), just sounded like normal pop song, YUI whispers in 'blue wind' (use headphone to listen=P), different ones are 'swing of lie' and 'spiral & escape'. 'Supairaru eskepu~' in the commentary they mentioned that this song is sorta experimental, a little bit jazzy, kinda interesting. =D Supairaru eskepu~~~

My least favourite track would have to be Simply White, it's hard to explain why...but...i just think thats one of the weaker songs on the album

Next comes, Merry-Go-Around and Blue Wind. Such an beautiful song *_* Makes me almost wanna cry. T_T

I really love every song, especially Merry Go Round, Swing of lie and Blue Wind... AMAZING! I can totally sense that distinctive change she gave in this album, and I hoped it would be better.... she's EVEN better than better! Hope she continues releasing more albums. <333 totally amazing. I just totally love her voice. She gives me that feeling of a Kelly Clarkson, Michelle Branch and a bit of Avril XD It's awesome.

Merry Go Round Rocks the best! Another I choose Blue Wind and Ready to Love

The best song should be on the top list of the album, so Merry Go Round goes for the right spot. Its bright and cheerful. I love the 'Uh-uh-uh' part. She's cute that way. :)

Blue Wind, its a 'windy' song. Calming and yet have wave in it. Yea, like Gin described, Hawai, a place for wave and wind. I can feel that.

And for Ready to Love, I dunno what to comment but this song sure catch my ear.

My favorite is Blue Wind. In my opinion it has the best feeling to it out of all of them.

I just have to say that I absolutely LOVE how YUI sings the verses in "Swing of Lie"; in terms of how she sings it really slow and deep with emotion, like she is just going to explode by the time the chorus hits, which she does!! :D

YUI really did a great job with this~ it shows how brilliant she is and her voice sounds just awesome in every single track *_* this album is a masterpiece in Japanese music biz~ there are really rare artists you deliver such a stunning debut.

I've listened to the album a few times. Trying not to tho till my copy arrives so I can savor it longer or whatever. I'll put up my ratings on the album once my copy arrives in the mail. By then I should have a really good feel to how I enjoyed each individual tracks.

My favourite was Merry Go Round. The song was really good, I especially liked the beginning where she goes "ah ah ah ah.. " y'know wut i'm talkin about haha =P

I think the best is blue wind, she truly puts her soul into this song plus her guitar skills are really shown in this one.

OMG! :o This is album is YUI at her finest!!! :wub: Not only did they toss in YUI's best older songs, but her new "experimental" songs are really amazing!!!

I didn't know what to expect when I started the alb. The knew songs were SO diff from her acoustic style but, that was NOT a bad thing! YUI w/ electric guitar is not only a extremely wonderful combination, but she looks hot playing that thing! :lol:

I've rated all the new songs on this alb w/ a 4 at least, and I have 4 new favs:

1- Merry-Go-Round. I can't help but LOVE the living flow and cuteness of this catchy song! YUI makes me hyper singing "uh-uh-uh..." And even though she repeats "merry go round" almost a dozen times, it works! This song is another YUI "journey" song or sorts! ^_^

2- Swing of lie. WOW! This song starts out slow, but fools you when YUI pours her entire heart into the first line of the chorus! T_T Oh my! We she screams "nee atashi-tachi tte," I get chills! :) Truely impressive! "I continue waiting for the wind. Ah ah..." I love this part as well! It's just want I need to catch my breath after such a strong chorus!

3- Ready to love. What a sweet romantic song! :wub: "Try~!" Nothing short of beautiful when YUI hits those high notes! This song has a gentle yet pushing flow that keeps you moving til the end! Very nice!

4- I really can't pick any fav's fro this point on! :blink: There are all SO GOOD!!!


I loved this album so much I sent it too my Sister along w/ a disc of YUI's MV's, Perfs, and Gin's Trans Lyrics! and Gin, I gave you FULL CREDIT! Not only did I put "Gin Loves YUI. You cannot deny it." at the end of every song lyric, but I also wrote a small story about you, and showed her you're "Disclaimer" banner! B) Aritgato! ARIGATO GIN!!! :D

I like the song Merry.Go.Round it has a very fast upbeat rhythm, Although Blue Wind has a soft acoustic rhythm, also the lyrics are very strong, and meaningful.

I really hesitated between Merry go round and Simple white!
But i chose Merry Go round B)
