So the GA-45SCE is out of the picture since they dont sell them in stores and my brother will only buy it at the store. :huhuhu
Also whats the difference between acoustic and acoustic electric? which is better?

So if you guys can give me your recommendations on which of these i should get. There are 3 pages on each link too.

An acoustic-electric has a piece of electronics inside the body of the guitar that pick ups the sound of the guitar and can be plugged into an amplifier.

If you're not planning to use the electronics or play live that requires plugging into large speakers, I would stick with plain, but better acoustic rather than getting an average acoustic-electric for the same money.

ok i've narrowed it down to these

Takamine EG531SSC Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Guitar

Takamine EG561-C Acoustic-Electric Guitar

Ovation Celebrity Acoustic-Electric Guitar

Well, the real question is, do you like the guitar? It doesn't matter if we like it or not, because you will be the one playing with it. :) Make sure you tried out other brands/models first, and then choose the one you're most comfortable with.

Is that USD? I saw a Martin at a Toronto guitar shop for $9500 CAD... I attended a Taylor Road Show there, and there was some Grammy winner guitar player showing and playing the new models there.. pretty neato... I want a Taylor now... :huhuhu

:o ! Welcome to the Ovation family, hanguknamja!

That's okay. At least you decided which guitar you're going to buy. :)

hanguknamja - April 26, 2007 02:09 AM (GMT)
Yep. I took your advice and had a few guys play some guitars for me at GuitarCenter. I had him play that Martin Koa and a few Ovations.

The CC44 sounded amazing!! :loveblink

Some of those guys didnt even work there. Nice fellows, that they are. Got me a free pick too.

I played the Taylor Big Baby the other day. It sounds quite nice, and I think I might buy one in the next two months or so. It's slightly smaller than a full-size (15/16), light in weight, ebony fingerboard & bridge, Elixirs Nanoweb Light Phosphor Bronze Strings, top is glossy solid sitka spruce and back & sides are sapele (laminated) with a light varnish finish (satin). It comes with a Taylor Gig bag (good quality too!).

I think it'll serve as a great starter guitar for those who interested in learning the guitar too. The price is about $350-450 in Canada. It's slightly higher priced than other starter guitars but the quality is superb in this guitar.

mmm interesting ... a Yamaha FX 335 Acoustic-Electric Guitar.

Perhaps that friend is recommending it so you don't waste your money.

I do think you should start with something mid range, $200-$300. You can get a guitar with decent sound that won't burn your pocket.

In my opnion, if you don't want that guitar, don't settle for it. In the long run, you'll only be wishing you had some other guitar, thus spending more money later and having that guitar collect dust as you try to sell it. You'll also feel less inclined to play a guitar that does not inspire you. That's not to say that the particular Yamaha guitar is bad, but if it's not what you're looking for, you might want to let your brother know that you would rather have a different guitar. Sometimes it's better to spend a little bit more for that instrument that you know is going to have you playing it non-stop than to live with one that will just get you by. Look around, there are so many guitars to choose from with $500. You don't have to spend it all, but just know that whatever you decide on, that will be the guitar you'll be HOPEFULLY be spending the next couple of years with :)
