Well Avril's music is decidedly similar to Yui's. and yui said that she started out after eharing how different Avril's album was... Though avril is more of a fun, rebellious type, and yui seems more quiet :D Love them both! Their music does sound similar...
1. Both started off with softer, acoustic songs.. and now they're rocking it out!
2. Both have changed their looks numerous times
3. Both can belt it out..
4. Both are songwriters and guitarists
ANY OTHER AVRIL FANS HERE? lemme know wat u all think!

actually, their styles are quite different
the only song that shows similarities between them is rolling star

yui and avril do have differences in terms of their styles in music...

and it's obvious that your an avril fan because your avril addict...^^

I'm more of a fan of her songs than her. Now that she changed a lot, I'm liking her less.

But I do like her new song "Keep Holding On", though.

Yeah obviously they have their differences, but they are both great singers! :D

But I predict that Yu is taking a turn in Avril's Old Let Go/UMS direction.. more rockish , like with Rolling Star. She can totally rock it out! :D

I kinda didn't like the fact that she took a 180 degree turn from being a tomboyish kind of girl to some love sick puppy. (no offense)

Oh well. At least her music's still good.

I'm a really big Avril fan. Although, I'm really disappointed in her new song, "Girlfriend", and the music vid for it. It's a little TOO different for her. =[

I'm not sure what to make of the song Girlfriend. But I know that it's not going to on my "favourite" list because currently it is still full of YUI. :biggrin

Hrm... not too sure about whether she really has become a "lovesick" kinda girl.. she only shows synptoms of that in Fall to Pieces.. but she honestly has kept true to herself with songs like Keep Holding On. Hmmm seems like Girlfriend is getting mixed reviews.

I like a lot of Avril's music too. I think there are some similarities to Yui, and of course many differences, and I like both of their music. Of course though, Yui is my favorite :D

I know what you mean pink...I think that Boyfriend isn't Avril-ish. And the MV is really......mainstream. It's like something that Gwen Stefani or Britney Spears or someone would have. She was dressed very differently too. It's a disappointment, sorry to offend anyone, but it is.

i'm a big fan of Avril! haha...i do admit that she seems to mature, but it's all natural i suppose, she's just more feminine now. But i am a bit disappointed when i heard Girlfriend though. Go listen to her other clips like I Can Do Better, When You're Gone and Everything Back But You, they're much better than Girlfriend imo. And i think she shouldnt have made it her first single off TBDT. But either way, this album's all about rocking out fun...I'll still get her album no matter what lol..

I used to be a fan of Avril. She was cute, and had her own style. Her lyrics where really good, and she wasn´t very comercial... :guitar

But now, with her new album, she is completely different. I don't like her style, is the style she fighted against few years ago, and it's too comercial, with silly lyrics.

Lol, true. I used to be a fan of Avril too back then when I was little and in elementary school, 2003 I think? :P She was cool and played a guitar and all. I was amazed and saved up all my money to buy her album... snuck out and walked to the music store :)

But then her music changed ;) I really don't like her style now. I haven't listened to any of her music for the past few years, but when I turned on the radio for the first time in a long time and heard "Girlfriend" I was like :blink: What is this junk? Her style and everything got even worse than before... and the MV is just like terrible.

I actually stopped paying attention to Avril 2 years ago, but, like what yoru said...she's turning into the type of person that she was fighting against back then. Sure, she's matured and stuff, but she's just turned into something she's just not. Her style was unique and thats what made me like her in the first place. Hmm...Michelle is still cool. ^^" Heh. Sony had better not pressure her into heading in the same direction as Ayu and Koda. (sorry for those who still love them)

I just wanna add this ....i know girlfriend isnt her best single, not even her best song ever yet....* i dont like it much really* BUT
the rest of the album is NOTHING like Girlfriend, seriously.

and like she said before...this album is sipposed to be just fun, fast, punk/poppish tunes...nothing serious like Under My Skin, to me, i kinda like this change a bit, coz UMS was kinda a bit too depressing to listen to repeatedly.

And of course, UMS has a LOT more DEPTH and it's serious and filed with angst rockish tunes, but it'd be worse to sing angry songs if she doesnt feel the same hatred anymore.

besides, she's married, and well, the influence a bit. she's happier now...and yeah i admit again, Girlfriend kinda sucks, coz it shows her immature and childish side. and seriously maybe it's a huge mistake for her to make it a first single, coz the general public who doesnt know her well will have mixed feelings on her style.

I like the fact that she offers fresh stuffs in new albums. Let Go is teen songs, UMS is dark/rockish, TBDT is punk/pop.

btw, she has BETTER Ballads now. try out tunes like Innocence, When You're Gone ( confirmed second single btw), and I Will Be.

Of course, everyone is entitled with their own opinions, i'm just expressing my own....XD
