For the covers, good thing that I have already prepared the fully print-size with 300 dpi. If Flare want to do the shipping, maybe it would be more easier to print the CD cover there. I think maybe Fanny could lend you a hand there. But about printing on the CD surface still is my problem. I'm currently working to make a design for CD cover for a band here and is looking for a printer. I'll gather information about this and will post it here.

In the booklet, I just hope we can take pics of each everyone of us with YUI's products with our name and country in the pics.

The title From us to YUI will be the best if we want to send this to YUI. But when we upload it here, it will be From us to You.

Yeah, I can be the shipper. But to be frank, If I ship straight to Sony Music Japan, with a birthday note to YUI on the cover, we could only hope that it eventually ends up in her hands. But I think that's the best we could do. Gin could try communicate with Sony Music Japan to indicate that they'll be expecting such a shipment.

Will YUI get the gift will really depends on how Sony deals with these kind of things. They could potentially receive tonnes of junk and would-you-marry-me notes from other over zealous fans of their artistes and demos I hope they actually open the boxes and you know, see that it's not junk and then pass it to YUI.

Yes, if all the printing are done here it would be easier. But if you are printing the CD at your location, then sending it to me, there'll be little difference in printing at your location or at mine.

Well, i hope this gives a new drive to all the guys out there working on the collaboration.

Yea, I'll try to help with the printing. Since Singapore won't be too far from here, maybe I got a chance to go there around February and we can talk about it straight-ahead. :)

I'll ask more about printing with the expert I already know here. I'll inform you all with all information about printing CD that I could obtain here. I'll contact both blue cat or Gin to make a contact with sony music. I just hope we can reach YUI this time!

As for the CD cover, I'll take the ultimate design wholely and Fugitivo has sent me his design which I think is good. I designed it to look as a present box with. :D Expect good things from me.

The problem is my Japanese skills are limited, and I don't know how to write a formal letter to a Japanese corporation in Japanese. I haven't learned that yet. There are probably so many rules and stuff to worry about. Yikes. :scare

Yeah, I don't know how to write a formal letter in Japanese either...

I really want to support this project but, honestly, I don't know the likelihood of it going through as planned... I say that cuz even though celebrities (regardless of what country they are from) are real people (like you and me), when they are treated like celebs, they treat them back as fans. A lot of times, the celebs look through all the fan mail and gifts, but many times they don't. And quite often, before it reaches them, it often goes through security first. Most of the time, the security will accept the item, and either reject it or never even give it to the celeb. So pretty much, it ends in the garbage...

I know this cuz I've met several professional Hollywood actors (like Keri Russell, Kevin Costner, etc.) before, when I used to be a journalist writing movie reviews for the school newspaper, and I've talked face-to-face with some professional film directors (like Kevin Smith, McG, etc.) as well, and its sooo difficult to give them stuff. And when you do give them stuff, you usually won't get a response back and/or they may not even check out what you give them.

If a gift or even a letter was given to an indi filmmaker or indi band, they would probably check it out, but when it comes to professionals... it's quite different. And this is YUI we're talking about... she's getting HUGE in Japan these days.



The bottom line is, I don't want to discourage anyone from continuing with this plan (cuz I think its a genuinely awesome and sincere idea). I hope I'm not coming off as too pessimistic about all this either. I'm just saying all of this cuz I've had experience with trying to give professionals stuff, and not only does nothing come out of all the hard effort, but most of the time the things get ignored... And since we're trying to send things overseas, that's another problem in itself.

My best advice I can give you all, if you want to go through with this, is... well, first, isn't there someone here who lives in Japan? Like firefly, for example. I know he's studying in Japan.

What we could try and do is send one of the YUI-LOVER members who live in Japan this birthday CD and well, we'll have to leave it up to them to take care of it (and try to get into the Sony Music Records company somehow). But that's also a problem cuz if you to a record company like that, you really just can't go inside and drop a gift off.

But, who knows. Maybe things like that work differently in Japan. But somehow, I highly doubt it.

blue cat, you've got a good point. but like what reset said, maybe a formal letter to the appropriate authorities explaining our gift is nothing than a gratitude to YUI. No threat, no nothing. I would like to carry on with this project even so :)

BUT, someone should write the letter in English first, and then send it to both me and Gin, and perhaps we can translate it into Japanese (as formally as we can). :)

nah i don't think it will matter. cos part of this project is combined with the YUI Lover collaboration, so even if this doesnt go through, we have the collaboration to be proud of! win-win situation!

all i could say is that we'll just have to try and see how it comes out. this is the first time we have tried this so we don't know all the formalities or the procedures (if there are any) that needs to be followed.

I had communicated with Aditz regarding the falling through of the project on BoAJJang. We may not be able to achieve all we planned. But I see that the guys and gals working on the CD are practicing hard and recording, Aditz already had the CD art planned out and I believe it's done. The minimal would be that we'll have a CD produced, I'll home make it if necessary. The worse case would be a poor print on the CD itself but the art would be fantastic as promised by Adzits

So the only pending production is the booklet itself. Which I'll be getting into together with Aditz and everyone in the forum.

The worse case scenario is therefore:
We may not be able to achieve contact or direct contact with YUI or her staffs. The booklet don't get produced.

Even if that's the case. I'll ship the CD to Sony Music Entertainment Japan, with Happy birthday YUI written in Kanji on the box, I can at least find that on a dictionary. So don't get disheartened. As the shipper, I'm determined to get it shipped. It may not reach YUI, but we'll at least try.
