What's the novel about? Taiyou no Uta story in japanese?

kaenzi - January 19, 2007 06:56 AM (GMT)
iyeah i wonder too, is that Kaoru's diary or just novel about that movie

Flare - January 19, 2007 07:38 AM (GMT)
From my 0 command of written Japanese... From my understanding of all those kanji in the novel... it seems like a novel of the movie or the novel which the movie is based upon.

For the Singaporeans, I'll bring the photobook out to the outing tomorrow.

Dashwolf - January 19, 2007 08:02 AM (GMT)
haha 0 command of written japanese and you jump right into the novel?

i suppose our chinese lessons up till secondary/jc pays off to read the kanji XD

Catchetat - January 19, 2007 09:21 AM (GMT)
hmm.. i heard tai you no uta's story is based from a hong kong film.. is that true? cuz i searched it on wikipedia and it said something about it .. anyways nice merchandises. nice camera angle XD cool chin!!

bnn - January 19, 2007 09:34 AM (GMT)

>ch|yo< - January 19, 2007 09:35 AM (GMT)
novel? i bet its only available in japanese am i rite??

kh7yusuke - January 19, 2007 09:50 AM (GMT)
wow...nice XD

artunee - January 19, 2007 10:12 AM (GMT)
Wow, the YUI cover version of novel. I've got one but the normal version. :huhuhu
From what I konw, Taiyou the movie stroryline was original, the novel is a kind of extension from movie script, but it isn't exactly the same after I finished reading it. The character of Kouji & Misaki aren't the same in the movie. Kouji was as Inter-Hi surfing champion in the novel...(Takashi was just a novice in the movie). Misaki was genious enough to enter a medical college in the novel...(same here Airi don't seem to be a doctor in the movie).

I read somewhere a long time ago that it is based (loosely? entirely? can't remember) on the 1993 Hong Kong movie 新不了情 ("C'est la vie, mon chéri" or "Endless Love"), which won multiple awards in Hong Kong.

In the HK version, the female lead is diagnosed with a fatal illness and the male lead is a struggling jazz musician, where the female lead inspired the male lead for the better.

Hmmm... actually, I think the YUI face version of the Japanese book and the non-YUI face version are not the same... The author is different... But both has the same reference to the original work of Kenji Bando. I'm guessing the YUI-face version is the novelization of the movie. But I can't read Japanese, so I'm not sure... Maybe I'll get YongHui to take a look at it...

The chinese novel which I finished reading recently is the same as the Japanese non-YUI version novel, as you described. It's stated that it's a translation of the works of Aya Tenkawa

Edit: Okay, the Taiyonouta by Kenji Bando:

And perhaps THE original Taiyonouta:

I got the regular edition at Kinokuniya @ Ngee Ann City, can't remember the price. I bought the Limited edition online from Taiwan (hunted down my moonchild) from cheng ping () bookshop. I'm not sure of the URL, i'm @ my workplace, surfing on my phone.

edit:
The novel is not the same as the movie, so I find tat it's still a good read although I've watched the movie. Very touching, and a nice slightly different ending, touching. I so want to talk about it, but i should not spoil it for those who wish to read the book.

For those who's worried cos it's chinese, dont worry, It's an easy read. I failed my chinese through secondary school and some how managed to scored a B4 for my o-levels chinese and I still managed to read it through with no problem.

dUStyEX99 - May 4, 2007 12:41 PM (GMT)

Although I bought the Chirashis and the Production Book from a shop here in Singaporea, but they are shipped in from Japan.

Most of the rest of the stuff like the Photobook, the Invitation book, Japanese novel and DVD are bought from online merchants in Japan, either Amazon.co.jp or HMV.co.jp. I have no idea how and where moonchild got her paws on the post card tho.

In other words, All these (except the chinese novel) are from Japan, they should be available in Japan but I have no idea where you'll be able to buy them from... But, it may be difficult to find, since this movie was screened in Japan almost a year ago (13th June 2006 I think)

Haha... Help me buy some YUI Posters while you're at it... ^_^
