Title: YUI's necklace in Taiyou no Uta
Description: it's a guitar pick!

kyleoko - November 23, 2006 05:00 AM (GMT)
i don't know if anyone else notice this, but in the movie, YUI wears a guitar pick as a necklace. it looks so cute. i think it says fender on it, it's probably to advertise the brand, but the idea of wearing a guitar pick as a necklace is kinda adorable. don't you guys think?

user posted image

i just finished watching the movie, so i'm sure all of you already know about this.

br4d137 - November 23, 2006 05:51 AM (GMT)
yeah... i think it was talked about somewhere.. but its real koo! ^_^

they sell it at the japan auctions... but not the real YUI ones... just white heavy fender picks with a hole in it...

i wear picks myself too! ^_^...

~eve~ - November 23, 2006 10:09 AM (GMT)
oooh...i would love to have one too... :huhuhu

Reset - November 23, 2006 11:43 AM (GMT)

Tzyy - November 23, 2006 01:47 PM (GMT)
now only i know this's a good idea ...
a guitarist wearing a pick as necklace and can play song whenever saw a guitar anytime XD

nataliejwong - November 23, 2006 02:38 PM (GMT)
Kyo,

Neato. A gitbox pick as a necklace. Ah, brilliant.

Tzyy,

Haha. That's so true. I usually put picks in my pockets. But what if you want to use different picks (thick or thins)? I guess customizing a pick holder as a necklace would be the best thing to do. :biggrin

iron_turkey - November 23, 2006 09:59 PM (GMT)
wow, that is ONE gorgeous picture of Yui :loveblink :loveblink :shock :shock
and a very admirable guitar pick necklace!!!

kyleoko - November 24, 2006 04:08 AM (GMT)
br4d137,

reset,

hm, that's a good idea. i should make it myself.

iron_turkey,

i just took a screen shot of her from taiyou no uta. yeah! she looks pretty in every scene, especially that one..

nataliejwong,

you don't mind if i take your guitar pick and drill a hole in it right? *smile innocently*

nataliejwong - November 24, 2006 01:56 PM (GMT)
Well, then I'll just drill a hole in your head. Haha.

Kyle, You can always buy cheaper picks at Steve Music Store on Queen St.

Steve's Music Store has the thin fender guitar picks? YAY! I'm gonna go make my own then! Natalie, do you know how much the picks are?

I want the thin pick! XD
...I just don't know what to make the hole with. ._.
What do I use to make a hole? If you seriously mean a drill then o.O Any other ways? LOL.

Wow, I sound like an annoying n00b there. o.O lol, Sorry, I'm just excited because I want a pick necklace...

A fellow Torontonian! Cool! I assume you know Steves Music Store is located on Queen Street right? You can always get guitar picks from Walter's Music Store, or Long & Mcquade stores. It just depends which store is closer to where you live, of course.

Yep, they sell all sorts of picks. I believe their own picks are the cheapest, obviously. I usually buy Dunlop picks, but I think Steves Music picks will work alright too.

About the hole thing. I'm not too sure, you could try to cut a hole in the pick, which I just tried out on a Steve Thin pick today. It takes time to cut it though with those x-acto blades, (gotta becareful!).

you are such a good friend, nat.

thanks *gives a big hug to nat*, i'll like the hole to be right in the middle of my forehead, please.

i'm too lazy to go to Steves. i'll just pay you for one of your guitar picks.. okokok?

Yep, I've been to Steve's Music Store a couple of times with my friends. Doesn't take long for me to get to downtown Toronto. =) Long & McQuade is expensive isn't it? So I've heard. Walter's..hmm a bit farther, my friend bought her guitar from there though.

Yaay, pick shopping time! XD Thanks Nat.

Ooh, with those x-acto knives or something o.O Hmm, well I guess is shouldn't be too hard...

I never knew there was a number of Torontonians in this forum. Hehe, thanks again!

Reset - November 25, 2006 05:41 AM (GMT)
use a drill to make the hole, serious :)
first place the pick on a cardboard so you can drill it though
than use a clip to hold on to the pick, but remember to use cloth to cover where the clip touch the pick.
than use the drill to drill it and you are done :)

don't use x-acto knives it take too long and will not give you perfect circle.

nataliejwong - November 25, 2006 06:32 PM (GMT)

I don't have a drill. I don't want to go buy one just to make one hole in a guitar pick. Haha, so that's why I used an x-acto knife, but I guess I could ask my neighbour if he has any, but he isn't really a nice person.

But yeah, my holes aren't great, but it works still. Thanks for your drilling instructions, if I can find a drill to use, I'll definitely try it out :)

Do you guys have pictures of your guitar pick necklaces? It would be interesting to see how you guys made it and decorate it (if you did).

*darlene-chan* - November 26, 2006 07:56 AM (GMT)
yay!!! i was right after all...just finished it and i really admire her necklace...so UNIQUE!!! :D :D :D and she was really simple in this MOVIE...waaaaa...i love her!! :lovepc just looking at her pics and hearing her voice makes me smile..bwahah..

linku - November 28, 2006 03:00 AM (GMT)
Haha! I finally got a fender thin pick! XD And I made my little necklace out of it!

I'll post a picture a.s.a.p.

To make the hole, I used those math compasses. XD Since the pick was like really thin. It was easy. You don't need a drill or exacto knife...you get a nice little circle from a compass. lol.

nataliejwong - November 28, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)
linku

That's smart. Using a math compass. I don't think I have one around anymore.. haha. I remember using those back in highschool though. But I never like math class, that's why I'm in art school. :P

By the way, do you live close to Steves Music Store?

Rakke - November 28, 2006 03:49 AM (GMT)
My sister and I got both of our premium editions in the mail this week, pick included. They are great, though I am going to make my own. As for my little sister's. she destroyed the side that has the fender written on it. She got ink on it, then used nail polish of sumthin and destroyed it. -.- so gotta make a trip to the guitar store and pick supplies up, I need new strings anyways

kyleoko - November 28, 2006 04:50 AM (GMT)
>>natalie

where is my guitar pick? didn't you go to steves today to get stringss.. hmmmhmmhm?

you changed your avatar to YUI, and she's playing the guitar. now your avatar sub-text makes more sense, you know. but don't forget...

<<YUI can play drums too <<

>>Rakke

you're so lucky to get the preminum editions! aw, now i want one too. :)

linku - November 29, 2006 12:42 AM (GMT)
Oh my gosh, you're in an art school? Me too! That's awesome. XD Well I major in music. =D

No, I don't live near Steve's Music Store. lol.

And here's the picture to my little pick necklace. lol.

Nice pick necklace, linku !

Guess what? We have the same colour pick!! I just happen to only have one Steve pick, and it was blue. I don't live close to Steves either, but my school is close to Steves. It's on McCaul Street, the funny lookin' checker board building with multi-colour chop sticks as legs. Haha. Don't know if you heard of the school before, it's called, Ontario College of Art & Design or OCAD, in short form. Here's a picture of my school:

Closeup.

I used a thin pick and cut two holes for the necklace to go through with the cross icon on it.

Kyo, I have your pick(s). I ended up getting Elixers' custom light strings instead. It not as loud, but the sound is more crisp than my old strings. I got a black & red picks for you.

linku - November 29, 2006 01:32 PM (GMT)
Ooh my cousin goes to OCAD!

Haha, yay go blue! lol Your pick is so cool! You have a cross on it! XD Pretty creative.

I go to Etobicoke School of the Arts, or ESA. Yeah...I'm still in high school. lol.

nataliejwong - November 29, 2006 09:45 PM (GMT)
I think I had a friend who graduated from your school. I forgot who though.. haha. I'm such a bad friend.

I wanted to put a design on the pick, but then I didn't just want to marker in the design.
So, I just decided to use that cross as a design to go with the pick since I wear it everyday anyway.

That's cool! Which program is your cousin in at OCAD?

linku - November 30, 2006 12:49 AM (GMT)
lol, I have no clue what program she's in.

Your school's building is so cool/funny looking. So many checkeredness stuff. lol.

Yep. It is funny looking, but it's also very ugly to most people, which makes it so artsy. Haha. It's the only building that stands out in Toronto too besides CN Tower, of course.

~eve~

Guitars / Art / Music go well together, don't you think? :wink

iron_turkey

Yep, I live in upper north east section of Toronto, but I go to school downtown. I think Steves might have different picks avaliable for purchase, but I'm not sure if they have fancy looking ones. You can call them up and ask if you like. Here's their website >> Steve's Music Store

Ah! That's adorable! Is that for cell phones?

Nope, it's not hard to make at all. Basically you get a pick, poke a hole, (I also found like an old keychain I didn't want, and took one of the small ring thingy, and stuck through the hole so when I put the chain/string it would be going left and right instead of the chain going through up and down, feeling awkward to wear. XD) yeah, and stick your chain and your done! XD I got a thin pick so it would be easy to punch a hole.

swing - December 28, 2006 09:57 AM (GMT)
get taiyo no uta premium edition from yesasia, it comes with a guitar pick pendant, not sure if thats the 1..
