Title: Rolling Star Tab
Description: the title says it...

nataliejwong - November 22, 2006 02:05 AM (GMT)
Alright guys. My friend, kyleoko, made me sign up and post this personally. So, this is officially my first post on this forum. :)

I did my best for this tab. It might not be 100% perfect. Please don't be too harsh on me.

NOTE: My intro is NOT right. I already submitted the correct version as (Rolling Star Intro Ver 2). There is also Intro Ver 3, submitted by another person. Try out both, and see which one works for you.

If you don't have an electric, but you have an acoustic guitar.
No worries, you can use these chords instead:

Bm 224432
D x00232
A x02220
G 320003
F#m 224422

INTRO
Bm, D, A, G [2X]

VERSE
D, G [4X]
F#m, G [2x]

CHORUS
Bm, D, A, G [2X]
Bm, D, A, G (play slower)

VERSE
D, G [4x]
F#m, G [2X]

BRIDGE
(after the crazy electric guitar solo etc...)

Em, F#m, G, A (strum each chord)

(YUI starts to sing at this part of the song..) (strum each chord or pick it, up to you)
Em, G, D, A
Em, G, D, Bm
Em, G, D, G
Em, G, A, D

Bm, D, A, G [2X]
Bm, D, A, G (play slower)

CHORUS ENDING
Bm, D, A, G [10x etc...till end]

hmmm....i noticed in your intro, you have 5-5 on the E string then the 5-6-5-6 on the D string, but then your next line says 0-0 on the A string, which kinda confuses me because 5 on the E string is the same as an open A string
user posted image
unless this isnt in standard tuning, wouldn't it be the same either way? j/w

Yep. The intro in this tab is WRONG. Those are the same notes. My bad. Also, the fingering is wrong. I only notice it after I submitted the tab.

I don't usually tab music by ear. Haha, just found it fun to do so for YUI's songs.

Yesterday, I submitted the new one as a seperate ROLLING STAR INTRO TAB. It should be on the site now. I think that's somewhat close to the actual picking in the video.

I apologize.

Kcman123 - December 2, 2006 01:41 AM (GMT)
how does she play so fast without any relapse T_T_T_T_T unless she doesnt use any overdrive..

labound - December 2, 2006 03:29 AM (GMT)
although u changed the intro tab but its still wrong so i think u better find a new one instead...........its suppose to be within the 4th to 2nd string of the guitar by the sound of it in the mtv..believe me ive tried it on my electric guitar

9h05tly - December 2, 2006 11:49 AM (GMT)
I tried creating my own version, and i think it fits the criteria that Labound said. Here it is :

e|------------------0----0--------------0----0-------------0----0--------------5----5-------|
B|----0---0---3----3--------------3----3-------------2---2----------------0---0-----------|
G|----—--------------------2--2----------------2--2----------------0---0-------------------|
D|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Pls comment....thx ~~~

Yeah, I'm sure my tab has problems because it is my first time tabbing such a fast song. The guy in YUI video does play it at fret 2-4. I tried out another intro that someone tabbed, is it yours?

It sounds similar to my another intro version, except I tabbed it on the lower strings. I just find it easier to play on those strings. It sounds right to me. ;)

e|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------7-----7------|
A|------------5--7--5--7--0--0--5--7--5--7---------5--7--5--7-------------5-----5----------|
E|---7--7------------------------------------------3--3--------------------7--7---------------------|

Comparing it to the second intro, the only notes I got wrong would be the third set of notes. The 0,0 should be 3, 3 (^look above).

Also, maybe you can figure out the bridge part too. I'm stuck on that. :)

issit really easier? i find that its more difficult as your fingers have to stretch quite far to reach the bottom strings whilst it would be easier to play if it were located on the upper 3 strings  anyway which part of the song is the bridge part? can tell me in terms of the minutes and seconds thx

Oh, do you have an acoustic guitar? Yeah, I hate barre chords myself, but with practice you'll definitely get better at it. :)

Also, if you have put on a new set of guitar strings (perhaps lighter gauge as well), it'll help too!

Yep, I do have one. But i always practice new songs on classical guitar first. But i still cant play that kinda chords on classical guitar. :( Argh.

Heylows Hinamori!

Aw, the truth is it's never easy at first, but once you practice it over and over again, you'll become a pro at it.

And guess what? My first chord took me about 3 to 4 hours to play it somewhat correctly. Haha, it's not a barre chord even! I believe it was the D chord correctly. I know. But it was so much fun trying to figure out how to play the chord on my 3/4 classical

Till this day, I still dont' like that chord. I prefer the E chord. *Nods*

My dad's camcorder is old. Only uses tapes for recording.. so I had to use my digital camera that has very crappy video features.. so the video size is small & it only allows me to record up to 2 mins.

I tried loading a sample video to YouTube because the sound/video doesn't sync properly. So, I uploaded the videos to sendspace.com

The videos is posted below, and on the first post.

The Rolling Star Tab @ Ultimate-guitar.com, click here!

Regarding the strumming, you can choose to strum up and down like YUI, or just strum downwards. So, one up & down motion would equal to two downward strums etc.

Note: Strumming downward is tiring. My wrist was relaly tired by teh second verse in the video I made.

I used Intro 1, it just easier to press in my opinion. But it's up to you. You can try out Intro 2 too. Click here!

Actually, they're power chords. Easier than barre chords :biggrin I needed to press the note on the far left. It looks like I"m barring because of my index finger, but I'm just pressing one note.

You only use your index, fourth & fifth fingers to play these chords and you only play those strings. Where you say the 'x', you don't strum those strings. Every three downward strokes I add in a palm mute to the strum. It's when you light place your palm on the strum, and lift it up when you finish your strum.

I'll record a short video on this to show you sometime this week.

Here's a great webpage on power chords, take a look.

omg natalie you are so pro~ <3 your electric guitar wish you can be my personal instructor. I am new at electric so im not really sure how to play both melody and bass. (going up and down like you do to produce both sides of the sounds). Thx for your help though, really wish i can meet you in person so i can congratulate myself!

marsalee - December 24, 2006 04:17 AM (GMT)
how about the solo ? :D

nataliejwong - December 24, 2006 04:24 AM (GMT)
KCman123
I'm not a pro.. haha. I wish I was. I just play around with the guitar. Haha. You can fly to Toronto, Canada to thank me, but that might cost A LOT. Haha, so a simple thanks will suffice. :)

marsalee
Eee, I wish I could figure it out. I'm more of a strummer, so I haven't had much practice with picking individual notes especially on an electric guitar. I play the acoustic more, so I mainly do more strumming patterns on the guitar. However, I am trying to learn picking songs nowadays such as Eric Clapton's Classical Gas. <-- Click on it to hear it, it's such an awesome song, but it's tough to play! I only figured out the introduction section, -_-" I got a long waayy to go. I want to learn this song too, but it's even more complicated... Man in the Mirror by Tuck Andress

But yeah, solo riffs are so ccoool... maybe one day I'll be able to tab out any solo I want. But that will take lots of tabbing practice and playing.

Yeah, I have to agree, Canada is a bit boring. It's not exactly UNIQUE like other places because of its multi-culturalism. It's pretty much a combination of different cultures from around the world, so it doesn't really have its own identity.

The wilderness is amazing though, you should go camping in Canada. It's an adventure! - campfire, hiking, canoeing, tents, marshmalllooowwws, swimming, fishing and the list goes on, BUT if you don't like the outdoors, then it's not for you. My family used to go almost every year when I was young. My first camping trip was when I was 3 years old. My parents didn't have a tent yet, so we just camped in our van. But, I must say, toasting marshmallows by the campfire is the BEST. Hm, well I guess the eating part is better, but you get what I mean.

OR

In the winter season, you should go snowboarding or skiing in Canada. I heard the slopes in Whistler, B.C. (British Columbia) is 20 minutes long!!! Yes, just for one RUN. Haha. Crazy. Apparently, they have rest stops in between these runs too.. so funny.
.
.
I see, you live in New York? Hm, I want to go there to watch U.S. Open Grand Slam, at least ONCE in my lifetime.

Kcman123 - December 26, 2006 02:45 AM (GMT)
haha if you come ill definitely show you around, I like camping i think its better than home cooking sometimes. It depends though, do you guys HUNT and stufF? And besides you know whats better? Strumming togethor or jamming outside! not only are you isolated but its fun with just more people~ but yeah, in canada? I think chinese food is the best~ next to hong kong XD

Yep, yep. Guitaring by the campfire, haha. I never tried that before because I didn't learn the guitar until I was 15. Now I want to try it, but none of my friends like camping, they prefer the indoors.

Nope. I don't hunt. Just simple family camping style. Chinese people either live in Hong Kong or move to Canada. A few move to the States, but Toronto & Vancouver are the two most popular cities to move to for Chinese people. My high school was about 85% Chinese! I know, it's crazy.

Hm, by the way, are you Chinese? Just wondering...

Kcman123 - December 26, 2006 06:27 AM (GMT)
haha~ yup definitely chinese~ i assume you are in the 85%? and because you are wong?~ lolz But yeah we should definitely think of something about that outdoor camping jam~ I am not THAT good yet to think of chords on top of my head, but Ill think of something~ what i really want to learn on my electric prolly would be cannon in D rock, what else prolly try to master my acoustic!!!*so out of my mind in those two ideas*XD Graduuating soon and im still thinking about guitar :( BUT! i perfer music as my life and i would prolly die without it!

nataliejwong - December 30, 2006 04:43 AM (GMT)
Yep, I was in that 85%. If you can play Canon in D on the electric like JerryC, that would be reallyyyyy coool. I want to learn how to tap on the guitar... like this guy.

His other tapping songs:
Phunkdified > here.
Knock on Wood > here.
Loco Motives > here. (NEW)

linku - December 30, 2006 11:21 PM (GMT)
JerryC is awesome! You should hear his other stuff other than the Canon in D, although it is amazing.

Oh yep, I seen his videos. yusuke280 posted some of his videos on this forum, but it's in the random section. He has nice tapping skills & rhythmic beats, but I don't really like his singing.. it's a bit scary sounding.

Yeah, haha. Thanks, too bad the video doesn't work with the sound... my camera has poor video features/settings.
