About Joi
After thinking for an awfully long time, I finally decided it's tough to do a self introduction. It's easy to talk about all other things, but to come up with a honest and innovative way of saying "hi-this is who i am" is certainly a daunting task! As a singer with no "formidable"background, I believe the task of a singer is to do the best in the art of singing, be yourself and treat everyone with respect.
I've always believe what I do, and because of this, fortunate seems like an understatement.
I'm glad that so far no destructive news have affected me yet ( But if it ever happens, I'll face forth to it!)
I believe music has no borders between language, religion and race and that is why it has brought happiness, creativity, thinking, joy and memories for me.
I've grown and matured in the influence of music and I wish it can bring the same to all of you out there.

1996: Selected as one of the singers to join "Extraordinary Singers Course" organized by the Ocean Butterflies Production Company.
1998: Re-sang the classic xinyao song <Xi Shui Chang Liu> by Liang Wern Fook with 2 other local singers, Chua Leelian and Tang Yu Xuan, as one of the National Day Parade songs.
1999: Release of album "Replugged": A compilation of various classic Chinese pop songs re-interpreted in an acoustic, unplugged manner.
Performed by 5 local singers including Joi. She interpreted <Ai Ru Chao Shui> and sang a new song <Kan Jian>
2000: First solo album titled <Joi Tsai> was released by Sony in Taiwan.
2001-2003: Due to the volatility and uncertainty in the music industry, Joi returns to her initial profession as an Optometrist while waiting for an opportunity to release the next album.
2004: Joi sign on to a new company, Musicstreet, after terminating her contract with Ocean Butterflies. Her new album " Sunrise" was released in Singapore on 9th of September.
Her new songs <Pei Wo Kan Ri Chu> and <Hao Nu Ren> became the theme songs for Channel U's dramedy " Perfect Women".
2005: Third solo album released on 8th August 2005.
Joi performed the Chinese version of "Uniquely You" for the Singapore Tourism Board and performed this song with Wendi Koh at the 40th National Day Parade.

An album which I still love till today. A compilation of 8 cover songs and 2 originals. The concept of the album is back to the basics, singing good songs in the purest, acoustic way. Replugged simply means doing a rendition of the selected well-known pop songs in an unplugged, no frills manner. Performed by 5 local aspiring singers namely, Cai Lilian, Tang Yuxuan, Zhang Junxiong, Cai Lizhang and myself. 看见 , written by Tang Yuxuan, was performed by myself and this song allowed people to hear my voice and know me.

My sophomore debut album which consists mainly of ballads. Released November 2000 back in Taipei, my A&R introduced my voice to the Taiwanese audience as a "needle in cotton", meaning soft warm vocals that penetrate into your heart. There was also a collaboration with well-known composer-singer Chris Yu Hong Ming, doing a duet 谈心 . My singing career was thus officially launched with this solo album.

This is a very important album for me for it signifies re-born of myself as an Artiste and a person. After a long wait of 4 years, my new record company, Music Street, launched this album in a way I could never have imagined. I was given much space to learn and expand my creativity, especially in areas of styling, production, selection of songs and A&R of the album. 陪我看日出 was also the theme song for U Channel's TV serial "Perfect Women". This opportunity allowed the audiences to resonate with the song, take notice and hear my voice again.

This is an album conveying dreams, hope and positivity. The title and the newly interpreted cover song "One Day I Will " sends a message of infinite imagination and possibilities. The songs portray a sense of looking forward even when one is down, sad or disappointed.
Comprising 14 tracks, 4 of which are Mediacorp's drama theme and ending songs for TV serials 《活下去》 and 《夢在手裡》。Included also, are "Speak Mandain" 2005 campaign song <我想听你說> and 2005 Singapore Tourism Board song <非常特別的你>
