Romance of The Three KingdomsYea, who like the story of Romance of The Three Kingdoms? As for me, I'm a big BIG fan of this story. This is one of the best heroic/war stories had ever exist! So anyone? Feel free to post anything related and discuss it here. Romance of The Three Kingdoms is based on a true story and is a mix of many aspects of life. The greatest story ever told.
I'm not a typical person who could read books continuously but I never got tired reading 4 big books of the complete history of the three kingdoms. :)
Summarized:The Three Kingdoms period (Simplified Chinese: 三国; Traditional Chinese: 三國; pinyin: Sānguó) is a period in the history of China, part of an era of disunity called the Six Dynasties. In a strict academic sense it refers to the period between the foundation of the Wei in 220 and the conquest of the Wu by the Jin Dynasty in 280. However, many Chinese historians and laymen extend the starting point of this period back to the uprising of the Yellow Turbans in 184.
The earlier, "unofficial" part of the period, from 190 to 220, was marked by chaotic infighting between warlords in various parts of China. The middle part of the period, from 220 and 263, was marked by a more militarily stable arrangement between three rival states, Kingdom of Wei (魏), Kingdom of Shu Han (漢), and Kingdom of Wu (吳). The later part of this period was marked by the collapse of the tripartite situation: first the destruction of Shu by Wei (263), then the overthrow of Wei by the Jin Dynasty (265), and the destruction of Wu by Jin (280).
To distinguish these states from earlier states of the same name, historians prepended a character: Wei is also known as Cao Wei (曹魏), Han is also known as Shu Han (蜀漢), which later became more commonly known as Shu, and Wu is also known as Eastern Wu (東吳).
The term "Three Kingdoms" itself is somewhat of a mistranslation, since each state was eventually headed by an Emperor who claimed legitimate succession from the Han Dynasty, not by kings. Nevertheless the term has become standard among sinologists and will be used in this article.
Although relatively short, this historical period has been greatly romanticised in the cultures of China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. It has been celebrated and popularised in operas, folk stories, novels and in more recent times, films, television serials, and video games. The best known of these is undoubtedly the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, a fictional account of the period which draws heavily on history. The authoritative historical record of the era is Chen Shou's Sanguo Zhi, along with Pei Songzhi's later annotations of the text.
The Three Kingdoms period is one of the bloodiest in Chinese history. A population census in late Eastern Han Dynasty reported a population of approximately 56 million, while a population census in early Western Jin dynasty (after Jin re-unified China) reported a population of approximately 16 million. Even taking into account the inaccuracies of these census reports, it's safe to assume that a large percentage of the population was wiped out during the constant wars waged during this period.
The three kingdoms era was divided into:1 Collapse of dynastic power of Han
* Yellow turban rebellion

Ow yea, and because I'm a big fan of Shu's general,
Zhao Yun, I'll put his biography here. :P
The Legend of ZHAO YUNFull Name: Zhao Yun Zilong
Life Span: 61 years (AD +-168 - 228)
Brother: Zhao Lei (sworn brother)
Sons: Zhao Tong(209), Zhao Guang(210)
Warlords Served: Gongsun Zan, Liu Bei, Liu Chan
Officers Killed: Qu Yi, Gao Lan, Zhang Wu, Lu Kuang, Chunyu Dao, Yan Ming, Xing Daorong, Xiahou En, Zhu Ran
Cause of Death: Old age.
The longest surviving of the five tiger generals of the Shu Kingdom, Zhao Yun originally served under the warlord Gongsun Zan but abandoned him after finding him to be a warlord who fights for his own gains and didn't bother about suffering of the general populace. He joined up with Liu Bei when Liu Bei was escaping from Yuan Shao's camp.
Calm and level-headed, he was assigned as escort for Liu Bei on functions and trips. He is best remembered for his courageous breakout at Changban slope from the encirclement of the Cao army to rescue Liu Bei's new born child Liu Chan to safety. Aside from Guan Yu and Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun is the most seasoned and experienced general and Liu Bei relied upon him on practically every battle up till he became the King of Hanzhong.
Zhuge Liang was relieved when he managed to intercept Lady Sun's boat and together with Zhang Fei brought back Liu Chan thus avoiding a blackmail from the Wu Kingdom to use Liu Bei's son to exchange for the territories of Jingzhou.
When Liu Bei breathed his last, he entrusted Zhao Yun to look after his sons. The death of Guan Yu was quickly followed up by Zhang Fei and Huang Zhong leaving only two tiger generals alive after the death of Liu Bei thus Zhao Yun is highly valued to the Shu Kingdom. During the suppression of the southern rebellion by Meng Huo, Zhuge Liang brought him and Wei Yan along as senior officers. With the south pacified, the plans for the invasion of Wei proceeded and though by that time Zhao Yun is very old, he is still a fearsome warrior on the battlefield despite his age.
Zhuge Liang was greatly saddened when Zhao Yun's sons Zhao Tong and Zhao Guang went to Chengdu to report the death of their father.
Zhao Yun, as he appears in Dynasty Warriors
Zhao Yun has been the central character in all of the Dynasty Warriors video games. He is usually in a prominent position on the manual/cover of the game (no small feat when sharing space with 40+ other warriors) and is most often the character used by the Koei developers in screenshots of upcoming titles. Zhao is usually labelled as a "beginner's" character -- both due to his having no overt strong or weak stat areas and the wide, easy swings of his weapon. He is also one of the few playable officers that can be played from a fresh saved game (most have to be unlocked by completing certain requirements). His weapon is called the Dragon Spear, and features a good balance between crowd-clearing regular attacks and a single-enemy-targeted musou (special) attack. In this, he spins his spear repeatedly out in front, juggling an opponent for heavy damage. He is The main pick for any under level Warriors.
