but there is a possibility that they are doing this for all their artists

And it's quite possible that this won't be limited to Sony Japan...My guess is this is going to start a domino effect and there are going to be many record labels following this trend and it's going to destroy these sites, even though these sites are promoting the artists and boosting record sales by getting the word out...

I think it's best we keep all file sharing to a minimum right now (and if you all think I'm far too calm about this, I spent 4 hours uploading stuff to share here and read about this happening AS I WAS POSTING, only to realize no one could see it (so no need to post, right?)...*sigh*

And what about a secret file forum which only registrated users can see and use? o_o?

It's likely that an employee of Sony
could register and check to see if we do have a file forum
and since we do, they will kno about it

and some of the files on youtube were probably credited to us anyway, so it just wouldn't be smart to take a chance by reinstating it right away anyway...

that, and the idea of the media section being visible only to members? that was already the case...but we can't close registration and cross our fingers and hope there isn't a sony Japan employee among us...

yea, guess we gotta stay a little "legal" for a while till this whole episode dies down somewhat.... it would be unfortunate to see the mods getting some letter from sony japan to take down the site or anything else.....

lemme put it to ya this way...i don't think they're going to take the site down if we keep it legit until they get outta their little tantrum, but i'm hoping no members will be hearing from sony japan for other reasons...

closing the file forum would be a good move right now eventho i dont think theyll bother much about this forum ... i mean if they want to do it like that then a lot of other bigger fansites and forums that provide downloads would be closed down long2 time ago ...

jpopsuki would be gone, along with boajjang and a bunch of others...the only reason they might even consider bothering with us is we're a huge resource for all things YUI :)

That is my concern. If you type "YUI" into Google, you can FIND our forum! So just b/c we are not a BIG site, doesn't mean Sony might not bother us. Who knows what kinda effect Sony has caused across the industry! >_<

but that's the thing...We ARE a big site...We may not be anything compared to BoAjjang or Jpopsuki with its 20k+ members, but considering we're a forum dedicated to YUI, we're HUGE...

And like you said, who knows who else is gonna follow suit on this

it's definitely not the best thing that could've happened, but for now, we'll have to deal with it...we'll try to have things back in order as soon as possible...

more than likely, there'll only be the one major sweep by sony japan and then they'll be silent once again...at that point, we'll bring everything back...

movie torrent? There hasn't been one, and even if there was, it would've been removed as soon as it was posted...Just like I've told everyone else, keep movie links to private communication...

And don't ask about when we'll be posting the movie, because the staff has unanimously agreed that the movie shall NOT be posted in the public message board...

Wow, I had no idea Sony was pulling YUI's videos off of YouTube. :blink: Tons of artists have things there, though. That just doesn't make sense to me.

lots of times what record labels do is they pick an artist that is gaining popularity (such as YUI) and make an example out of (in this case) her. they're trying to re-establish a sort of dominance over her media, even though very likely, they have no plans of releasing her PV's on DVD anytime in the foreseeable future...

they've done the same thing with artists in the US...less frequently...more often here, they "shoot first and ask questions later" in the legal sense...i think they're being pretty reasonable about how they're doing it...but i agree that it doesn't make a lot of sense...

I don't mind I can't get YUI's video free from internet as long as there is a way to BUY IT!!

but if anyone finds a working true torrent of the movie and juz makes a note here that he or she has found it, so that the pm can begin it's alright rite?.... no links are posted, juz a simple "i've found it" ?.... otherwise we wouldn't know... lolz...

This whole Sony thing is creepy... We didn't do anything...that might be against anything right? But other forums are doing just as much things that we're doing, maybe even more... Why are they bothering with this lovely beautiful wonderful YUI forum???

like i've said in previous posts, it is acceptable for people to send private communications for file sharing...

if you are looking for something, PM me and i will try to advise you where to find it if i don't already have it...or i will try to get it for you...

public file sharing is probably a bad idea right now, but private communications are fine...

Too bad if the label are sweep them all, but like Reset said, I also don't mind if I can't get YUI's PV from internet as long as there is a way to BUY IT...
But usually I try to search from internet first to get the PV/movie.... :P

well of course...i always use the internet for preview purposes...if something is worth it, i buy it...if it's not, i don't hang onto it...

and i agree...if i could buy copies of the YUI videos, i wouldn't mind the internet sweep...but it appears sony has no plans of making them available...at least not that they've stated...

Errmmm I don't think so.
Last time I checked, Jpopsuki was still up, and it still is. UNLESS they changed their URL...But according to what I'm seeing right now, things are still pretty active there

They are probably just going to withdraw their YUI files/torrents and any other artists who are under the same.....err how should I say this..circumstances?
